Depends on what you are selling.
You might not get as much money....... but you will save on ebay's killer fees
plus less of a chance of getting scammed here.
#2
Depends what you are selling .People on here want to pay next to nothing for things but then there are no fees,
Swings and roundabouts,

this isnt a dedicated selling site so you shouldnt sell loads of things. Far more rules on here though and you will only get the bottom price as people know the value of things unlike ebay.

yes... i got scammed on fleabay for £30. Paypal sided with the buyer even tho i provided proof of posting etc... needless to say i will NEVER be using fleabay or paypal again.

I sell things like games and stuff on here, and have found that you do get a bit less than ebay, but avoid all the fees. So overall you actually end up better off
#6
I like it on here there are no fees like ebay, but you do get bottom line prices. I tend to just sell the kids outgrown clothesand toys, but i'm happy for them to go cheaper and get put to good use. I also buy them lots more on here too.!!lol
#7
bulk sales, ebay - single sales such as games and clothes here. Avoid fees too.

the fact that paypal always sides with buyers has made ebay a magnet for scammers.
Heard of alot of people being taken by buyers. Would honestly think twice before selling on there....... specially if the stuff is valuable.

Agree.

Even with valuable stuff on here, so long as you take the neccessary precautions and deal with people with good feedback you should be OK.

Here we go, how do you KNOW the buyer was scammed, proof of positng is NOT proof of delivery, so paypal will always rule with the buyer, proving you posted it, does not mean it was delivered, which is your responsibility.

Half of people problems with ebay could be sorted if they actually knew what they were doing.

Op, it's swings and roundabouts really, do remember here though you have NO seller protection and even if you get gift it's not fool proof.

Hi Tinks, i know because when I put the tracking number into the post office website it says delivered. Ive been on Ebay for well over 5 years selling and buying with a perfect 100%. Rant over.. Ive got to let it go. :whistling:

I have sold a few items here but won't bother again. You just spend most of your time haggling with people who want unrealistic prices.
#14
i used to buy loads from here, but these days I hardly use the fs/ft anymore

Really, I smell porkie pies, if you can prove delivery paypal will rule in your favour, you did say you only provided proof of POSTAGE not delivery, if you have been selling that long you wouldn't make such a key error, just saying:whistling:

LMAO Who are you seriously?
You have no idea of anything about the situation. Leave the interrogation for the police.

Oh sorry does in not fit in with the I hate ebay, payal mantra, where people make up stories to make them look more horrific than they already are.

FACT proof of postage will not win you a dispute proof of delivery will 2 different things, that's why he lost his paypal dispute, but now all of a suden it was proof of delivery, yeah ok.

It's a public forum pointing out the obvious is inevitable especially as op wanted advice, I gave it, don't do what he did and rely on proof of postage as he said or you will loose, there is a CLEAR difference,

Do you have anything to add or did you just post for an argument, I think the latter , so go away:)

It's fact what I have said. You need to stop following me on threads just to cause an argument when you have no sound advice to offer in this thread :)
[mod]#20
OK
Enough of it you two; take your argument elsewhere please (if you must); but better still leave it out
For the record I lost a paypal dispute once as I only had proof of postage. Now if I post anything of high(ish) value I get a tracking number

tinks is right, I've been buying and selling on eBay for years too and as Tinks said the matter of proof of postage or proof of delivery is a major difference, it can lose/win you a paypal dispute.

And op as people have said it is a matter of swings and roundabouts you have to decide if you'd be better off on here selling for less but avoiding fees, mods rules help prevent scammers but you do have a lot more protection on eBay with paypal.

Seriously Andy who started this, this forum gets worse, I was stating FACT which often gets lost in ebay threads, just Met here jumps in to have a go and want's to muddy the water. It's important people know the difference if they want to sell on the bay.......poor show. SO I am trying to calrify the ebay selling situation with FACT and met jumps into have a go, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Don't worry I won't bother :)

Lets just look at this thread and check quotes here..................

having the same problem at the mo, got a signiture for item but buyer is sayin they havent recieved, they are bein very nice about it but its a bit strange. although royal mail are now going to look into it. paypal wont do anything as you have proof it was delievered will have to go through royal mail

maggie5333
I had the same, I have the tracking number and it had been signed for. She said it was not her signature.

In the end she got ebay involved, but because it was tracked and signed for ebay sided with the seller - for a change.

HesFamily4
I purchased 3 girls Next dresses for £40 on ebay, seller sent 2nd class recorded. Week later hadn't received anything, so contacted them and they gave me ref no. When I checked RM site, it said it had been delivered, but proof of signature wasn't available (conveniently)! Opening paypal dispute was waste of time, all they did when seller provided ref was close dispute. Now claiming thru RM!
Point being, that when Paypal check recorded delivery ref and see it's been signed for, they will close automatically - don't worry!

Thanks ALL I was trying to say and CLARIFY, before people start having a pop, what a total epic waste of time.

i would use ebay this site is ok if you want to just get rid of items and you not worried about what price you get
unless it is a steal you will struggle to sell here
#25
I just use hotukdeals to save on the fees. Also i havent ever been scammed on this site so thats always a nice bonus

What would be my motive for porkie pies Tinks? I had a bad experience on Ebay and now i chose not to use it anymore. I only said it as it is and I get accused of lying for some reason. Oh well.

Because it's fact if you have proof of delivery paypal will rule in favour of the seller, read all those quotes above, from other sellers, proof of postage which is what you ORIGINALLY said will see you loose a dispute, so lets stick to the facts, rather than we hate ebay so lets mainpulate the facts:thumbsup:

But the fact is you DONT know the whole facts? So how come you have an opinion? Do you want me to provide you with the tracking number so that you are satisfied and can sleep soundly tonight?

This is the reason why I jumped in I was reading the thread to see what people prefer ebay or HUKD.

You spoke to her like she murdered someone and accuse her of lying and turned this topic into something else this topic isn't about whether that paypal dispute's results were right or wrong and proving that even its about which is better for the OP to sell on.

Anyway,

What I have to say is basically the same as everyone else you have no fees on here but you would get more for your item on ebay sometimes it works better here without the fees and sometimes there even with fees. Check completed listings on ebay and then past threads on here and work out how much you'd get after fees on eBay and how much you'd get here.

Thats what I always do.

I was gonna post my advice atleast a certain post kind of annoyed me a bit sorry about that.

If you can prove delivery not postage, delivery with an online signature if the item is over £150 to the buyers paypal address as provided by paypal when you sell, you will win an INR, that is a FACT.

So something is amiss with your theory OR it happened years and years ago as that is the policy and has been for a good few years, so if op wants to sell on ebay, at least they will know HOW to do it :)

hahaha.. this is now making me laugh.. I understand that Ebay is good for some.. but my own personal opinion which is what the OP originally wanted is to sell on HUKD or Ebay. I only said what happened to me and i feel like im being frisked up and down and the rubber gloves are about to come out.
#33
i have used ebay to sell stuff before and yes, their hidden fees are a killer plus the paypal fees dont help
if you can sell here and people actually trust you enough, it is worth selling here

EDIT, i read the thread and there are some misconceptions about ebay, first, if selling spend the extra money on recorded delivery, it will save you a headache, the hidden ebay fees add up fast if you sell alot of stuff or even high value items

people talk about thier bad experience with ebay but i wanna show that its not all bad, i bought a used TFT monitor, it came non working, i told the seller and he sent a replacement and gave my money back, yes that was probably a one off but it still happened

im glad some people are atleast trying to give sound advice

protect your self and you've got little to worry avout
