Send in a reference with a Job application?

I'm applying for a job at the BBC and I have a great reference from a recording studio in Jamaica I worked at one summer.

Just wanted someone's opinion - would it be a good idea to send this reference in with my application? Or is it 'normal' for the employer to contact my previous employer for a reference?

I think they will probably prefer to contact your previous employer themselves. I would definately take it with me if I got asked to attend an interview. I am not sure about sending it in with the application although I can't see that it would do any harm.
Good luck

Send it! It might make your application stand out from others. The hard bit is getting them to give you an interview so anything helps.

you could maybe send in a cover letter with the application, explaining your expiereance and why you think your suited to the job and maybe quote some of the good passages from the reference to back it up advising you can provide them with full references as/when required. That way it can really be personalised towards the company and make it look like youve done your research and are what they are looking for.

I wouldn't send it if it doesn't tell you to. Make you application stand out in some other way - not with information they might not consider. Equal Opps is very specific - they probably have a lot of laws to comply with...

Send in a cover letter along with your CV, then on the CV add reference details of your previous employers, that way the BBC can get in contact with them!

Yes, this is the best option imo too. Good luck with it

Definitely send it if you've been given it. It could make the difference between getting the interview or being ignored.

Well, today I found out I've been shortlisted for an interview!

Also passed my driving test today! (no minors - but that's a different thread).

Also got my first red dot next to my rep meter <<<

Also new peep show on tonight!

What a day! :-D
