Sennheiser UK repairs

Having owned my Sennheiser PMX 680 headphones for 18 months and using them everday for running i was devastated when the left earphone stopped working. I then realised that Sennheiser products carry a 2 year warranty so i sent them off for repair. Today a package arrived from Sennheiser and i open it up to find they have sent me the latest model which is the PMX 685i. Whether of not they are brand new or refurbed i can't tell but i'm a happy customer. Has anyone had a good or bad experience with Sennheiser?

Every set of Sennheiser headphones I have bought in the past 5 years has died one me. Usually it's one or both channels cutting out intermittently.

Once Amazon send out an advance replaced (how awesome is that!?), the other times I had to send them back directly to Sennheiser, who then replaced it with some random set they had bouncing around the warehouse. The replacements sent out by Sennheiser have all been brand new/retail boxed/more expensive models, which is a nice touch, but their returns department seems to pay little/no attention to the type/style of headphone send to them.

It is also worth noting that Sennheiser will only honour the 2 year warranty, if the cans were bought from an "Authorised Dealer". Amazon Marketplace and Ebay are therefore a big no no when shopping around for the best price.
