I am going to be in the US now for a while and wanted to keep up with my favorite shows via the BBC iPlayer. Now The last time I was over here I tried for ages to set up a proxy so I could watch shows on it but failed.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some help setting one up (or if their is an easier way? help me with that)

Thanks

I didn't think it was possible unless you used something like this;

+1 for a VPN service. It'd have to be UK based though otherwise iPlayer won't let you stream anything (as if you have a Swedish based VPN for example, it'd look like you're located in Sweden and iPlayer won't like that)

The proxies aero linked to are probably just free ones. Whilst these would probably be OK for general browsing, they'll be far to slow to stream any video. Correct me if i'm wrong aero :-)

If it were me, I'd just download the shows from bittorrent. I don't know any good TV show torrent trackers but i'm sure someone here might. Piratebay or demonoid would be worth a look if you're stuck.

i don't think a free proxy will be fast enough either, the link for the vpn I gave lets you choose either a US or UK based ip address (and change as when you like).

As for downloading TV programs from torrent i've found midnight torrents has a good selection.
