Settle an argument for me.....how old are you when you're born?
I'm insisting you turn 1 when you have your first birthday but they're insisting the way Asians look at it, you're a year old instantly upon being born because "you're stepping into a new age"
What do you think, opinions of all races would be appreciated to settle the argument, so if you can say where you're from, your opinion and why, that would be great. :)

Both are truisms, but in the english culture and language you would only be 1 a year after you are born, before that you are less than 1 year old. Other cultures are also right from their perspective.
A dog however is still 1 year old and not 7 :)
A dog can't change the laws of time.....they just die 7 times quicker than humans.

So if they're hit by a car, was the car going 210mph in a 30 zone?
I used to believe that but now that I'm in my late 20's....it doesn't quite feel like that....at least I'm looking younger now that my goatee is gone and being asked for ID again. :)

Exactly....and the blood trickles out 7 times quicker :p
Jokes aside, my 3 dogs lived until the age of 6,8 and 11 with the latter being considered as very old for his breed and outlived his life expectancy but it doesn't mean that we had to celebrate his birthday every 7 and half weeks :P
As for being born a year old, that is not my belief but if different teluons or cultures believe otherwise then so be it.

That's true....how can they try to make you a year older and then lower there own age....I think my friend is purely trying to depress me about getting older. haha
Well this is the thing, I am trying to findout if it's a cultural thing that they believe in making people older than they are...for me....I may be turning 29 next week but I look 21-25 :)
To get really pedantic, you are generally 9 months old when you are born :)
Ignore the Asians - they generally spout nonsense anyway ;)
my first kid was born 2 weeks late so 9 months and 2 weeks, no one has ever spent a year in their mother's womb,
if you were born at around 9 months and you believe your age starts when you were conceived then surely that would make you 1 when you are about 3 months old in the rest of our eyes - not at birth
If you have a very premature baby then their first birthday is recorded a year after their birth. I don't know anyone who has had a prem baby.
Does a prem baby/child have a disadvantage when they start school?
Not sure if I'm making sense!

True, same, same but only in your own version of reality.
Born -- First year of existence -- First birthday -- Second year of existence -- Second birthday (and so on)
Birthdays relate to the birth date, without the concept of zero the ternary based decimal system does not function.
Yeah but despite it being your first year of existence, it doesn't mean you're a year old....if you said to me "I bought milk yesterday, this milk is already a year old" I would of told you to get it away from me before it implodes :p
he means the other asians.......:p we're assimilated and go with the 'you're one after one year theory......X)
