Let's wait on interest first hoping somebody with experience doing it before can chip in and I would want the 4K package
#3
I might be interested. Are you talking about the £8.99 premium package, and how many are you looking to share with?

Ok, count me in. I don;t know anything about how it works though so I'm hoping you can sort it out X)
#7
I'd be interested. Does anyone know how it works, is it 1 active device at a time as I have the app on both of my TVs, so as long as I only watch on one at a time there should be no issues?
#8
I'm interested!

It works that 4 screens can be viewed at once so we would each have a screen/profile I am hoping somebody who has done it before pops in then we can go from there

I share with my brother who lives in a separate house, we each have a profile and it works fine, only one login and password.

Ok cool questions for you!

One person creates the account/password and shares that yeah?

When we load up Netflix will it have the 4 profiles viewable to all? Say mine and the 3 others there?

Yes but I have only set up for two profiles so not certain you can set up for 4 profiles!

My current Netflix has 4 profiles it's the £8.99 package I have one for me and my partner and each of the kids.

Would just create a new throwaway account and set it up with the same plan

How would you police it? What's to stop somebody with a profile viewing on more than one device?
I would be interested if anyone could answer the above satisfactorily.

I've seen this asked before. I think the answer is nothing, it's just based on trust.

Unless anyone knows different?
#16
ultimately I think the person who sets it up has control over all 4 accounts...so they can cancel any one of them at any time...so if someone was logging in one more than device and using more than their 1 account then the person who set up the accounts can just close it. I might be wrong though.

The good thing is that the netflix contract is monthly, so this means the 4 people can commit to an initial period (lets say 3 months paid upfront) and once everything seems to be working fine then the account holder can decide how to progress eg having everyone pay their part upfront for a further 3, 6, 12 months etc. But the bottom line is that this is all dependent on trust.

This would be the best bet, even try just one month initially and then do it in blocks of 6

One month is to short to really assess behaviour, you'll need at least 2-3 months to really know how things are working.

I'd be interested if there was a place going. :)

Just to add, I don't think there is a limit to the number of profiles - you can only watch with up to the number of devices you have paid for. I have the 2 screen +hd package, but there are five profiles at present on my account, labelled "family", "not for kids (violent/sex/Gore content)" , "kids", and two named with users names.
They are just viewing profiles

Oh of course but if we left it at 4 and named them accordingly it would make it easier I think..

Just for your info..

You can have as many profiles as you want, and you can sign into those profile from multiple devices at the same time, the limit is on the amount of streams at once..

I tried to share with family once but it got to the point that someone was always being kicked off etc.

i never get kicked off with two profiles active...I would be interested on a feasible maximum number of profiles?

I meant getting kicked off becuase of others using more than the allocated stream..

example I have 4 streams, I was using one, the kids use one the mrs uses one, so the other family members were taking liberty and using 2 or 3 themselves.

Its all good if everyone manages to stick to using their allocated stream.. but its not like gamesharing or amazon prime, its possible for someone to take advantage.

I guess it would have to be strict... first time a warning all round 2nd time a refund and I go and pay the rest myself.

You would only be harming yourself as I pay that anyway

...or maybe you are not all using the allocated user slots on the account concurrently.

If doing this is recommend

- setting up a brand new Gmail account just for this.

- go for the top package.

- get payment in advance but do it at 4 month intervals, £10 a head, and a long / short enough period that they can be bumped if abusing the agreement.

- the person running it can change the password only if someone leaves and can only close the account after then end of the 4 months / on complete disagreement.

- at peak times everyone should just try to use one screen each but with 4 people you'll not likely all be on at off peak times anyways

- easy to implement and run as long as you don't invite maniacs.
