Shilpa Shetty In Talks About 'Enders Role

The 33-year-old Indian film actress and model is in talks to join the cast of soap opera Eastenders.

Her agent Max Clifford said: "I am talking to several TV people about potential work for Shilpa.

"I have had several discussions with various TV executive in the last couple of months."

Shetty, who has appeared in numerous Indian films, recently bought a £10m mansion in Surrey with boyfriend Raj Kundra.

Up until now, her exposure to UK audiences has been surrounded in scandal.

In April 2007, during an AIDS awareness event in New Delhi, she attracted outrage when Hollywood actor Richard Gere repeatedly kissed her in public.

It happened three months after she won a controversial series of Celebrity Big Brother.

The show hit the headlines when Jade Goody and other housemates were accused of racism and bullying the glamorous Indian star.

Shetty and Goody were later reconciled and the pair became friends.

They appeared together on the Indian version of the show last year when Goody received news she had cervical cancer, from which she died last Sunday aged 27.

Shetty said Goody helped to make her a household name in the UK, describing her as the "architect of my fame".

The actress was previously offered a part in Eastenders after her Celebrity Big Brother win but turned it down to concentrate on her Bollywood career.

right rat that clifford, ain't he.

must have struck a goody deal
eastenders is rubbish, what a way to kill a career
Eastenders is crap but a lot of people still watch it. I don't like soaps as majority of the time they are all doom and gloom. Gimme a fantasy to walk into with glamorous people and fast cars, blow stuff up and be damn rude in public but I don't want to replicate life as is and all its problems.
I don't want her to be in East Enders because then she will have less time to star in Indian movies. I really enjoyed: Life in a metro the chemistry between her and Shiny Ahuja was sweet. I think she would make a great newsreader lady.
This can't be right lol,
