My husband is off to Cary in North Carolina on Saturday 'til Wednesday on business. He's asked me if there is any shopping that I want (good isn't he?). I don't know what might be a good buy in the States now that the exchange rate is not so good- anyone help?

everything will be a good buy, even if the $1 = £1, as they don't charge as much tax & vat as we get charged in rip-off britain!

make up/ moisturiser/ patchwork quilts lots of halloween decorations at the moment and lovely christmas bits and pieces - very unusual also the crest whitening (brilliant stuff) only about $16 but about £30 - £40 over here, converse all stars (of you have any fans) but remember the size difference
JC Penny has an amazing sale for clothes for women tops at $9.99 and the quality is superb, Estee Lauder is about 2/3rds the price, if you know your colour WalMart have a loreal lipstick that Definately stays on for 8 - 10 hrs and its $8 (bught loads just come back) , better still - you go with him and go shopping while he is there

i believe some electricals are cheaper over there too.
If possible, you could try and smuggle some petrol too :D

Not sure if they're your "thing" but Converse are about half price in the USA as I found out when we went in April, although didn't realise how much of a bargain they were until I came home and checked prices, they go for more on ebay - hint, hint. Basically, any designer name made in the USA will be a darn sight cheaper so Converse, Crocs, DKNY, Guess (very reasonable) , Skechers etc.

I know someone who filled a half empty case with jeans then sold them when he got back home.

If you get something like a Netbook or Mac i'd take it out of the packaging set it up (so the desktop looks used) and send all the box and stuff home via a courier so they don't know you got it in the USA and try to sting you for customs tax.

I got my girlfriend a new Guess handbag not available over here yet and she said she paid £90 for her previous one and I only paid $75 for this new one...just shows how much we are over paying...
