Should I buy an iPhone 4 on contract?

So we all know the iPhone 5 is close but should I get a 30 pound a month contract for the iPhone 4 now. Will the iPhone 5 contacts be crazily expensive is my reasoning behind it.

No. New iPhone will be out soon.

IMHO, iPhones are very very good phones, but for the price tag attached. Forget it.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S on 18 months on 3. I'm only paying £18.75 a month for 500 mins, unlimited texts and 3GB Internet. Oh and free phone too.

Where as if I opted for an iPhone, I would have paid about £50 for the handset, would be pinned down and raped for 24 months (contract) and pay stupid money every month for measly allowance.

The only difference between the two phones is a flash for the camera (I'm exaggerating, so don't get your knickers in a twist iphone fanboys).

There are many other phones equal to or better than the iPhone that are cheaper. Your choice.

could you name a few phones that are similar but cheaper mus_ne as was thinkig about gettiing iphone

Wait it out, you'll only end up regretting it when your stuck in your contract and you see the new one out.

iPhones are like marmite, you either love them or hate them! I personally like mine and would never have anything but.

that works out to be around £620 for a MOBILE PHONE every year. No thanks, I'm not that driven by materialism.

it's not rocket science. I get so annoyed when people update their FB status to something like:

"Wich 1 to get? Blackberry or iPhone. all other fones r crap"

How hard is it to do a little bit of research or even go to a shop and actually play with the phones yourself rather than just listening to what everyone else has to say.

(Sorry dude, although it may sound like it, this is not a direct attack on you - just lazy people in general)

i am very open minded and would personally like peoples opinions on the phone they have, for e.g dont get a blackberry ive had 3 and every single one breaks... that then makes my mind up that a blackberrys not for me.

and yes i agree darkstryder and sedd, but not everyones got £500+ to splash out on the 'newest' 'bestest' ''coolest'' phone thats been released.

imo it does no harm to find out peoples opinions before you buy.

I'm just hoping they don't ditch the (Micro) SIM altogether, like some of the rumours are suggesting ATM. No thanks to being forced to have a crappy iPhone tariff...

Everyone has different needs and budgets.

Work out what you need, figure out how much money you are willing to spend and then try looking at phones that suit your budget. Don't fill your head with other people's thought's as you will be using the phone/contract, not anybody else.

If you are happy to wait a couple of months for a new handset then there will be many new models out from all the major players or if you are looking for a deal on 2010 models then now isn't a bad time to do so. Whatever you do though, don't buy an iphone 4 now!

Bear in mind Iphones hold their value well. Chances are you'd get 350 every year for your old one. Takes the cost down considerably. The way you mentioned in the op will cost you 360 per year for 2 years minimum

Nothing wrong with the iPhone, apart from the price...

Personally I would go for an Android phone, much cheaper and does the same. Do a HUKD's search for HTC Desire S, HTC Incredible S, Samsung Galaxy S or LG 2x. ;-)

I wonder what you get done with 1mb internet, oh and how much did you pay upfront? 400 quid?
