I recived a CD player at Christmas for my car, which I assume was purchased in Argos.
My car just has a hole in the CD player area with a few cables and a small black box.
I'm guessing that if I go to Halfords that they won't be able to fit the CD player in for me as I didn't purchase it from them, but someone has mentioned that all I might require is some sort of adapter to connect the player to the car. If I go to Halfords will they be able to have a look in my car, get me the right adapter if that is indeed what I require and then possibly install that for me?

Hope this makes sense lol

phone around for an Auto-electrician, they should come out and do it all for you, i had one fit my girlfriends car stereo as it was an old car and the wires where in all sorts of bother. Charged me £40

if you get the adapter thingy then its easy to fit yourself. I have fitted my previous stereos in like 2 minutes!

they are called iso car harness adapter. They are available from any motor factor. all you need to know is the make of your car and they will give you the right adapter, not more than a tenner i should think. It is really easy to fit so long as you have the right adapter. just like putting a plug in.:)

I never get how Halfords can justiy any of their prices in the shop. They charge £2 to put a wiper on and £40 to fit a stereo! I do not like Halfords

many new stereos come with the "iso adapter harness" so as long as your car has been converted to this, would be fairly easy to fit, google car stereo fitting diy, will be lotsa pics etc
The cables should move freely so reach in to hole lie them over the lip and take a pic then post back with it
