Should I get GTA IV on Xbox 360 or PS3?

I have both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. I heard Xbox 360 will have exclusive content but the game may look better on the PS3. So the question is which format should I buy the game for?

I've got both and i'll be getting it on the 360

It may look better on the PS3? the vast majority of games out on both systems look superior on the 360, plus you have download content and trigger buttons!
#3
the 360 version will get exclusive DLC so get that one

edit: I did read your OP but it's a big enough point to mention again
#4
If I had a PS3, I'd get it for that - the fan noise is killing me!
#5
i'd say PS3
#6
better hurry up and decide, most places seem to have sold out of their initial allocation for release day.

According to rumors in the latest issue of PSW magazine, the PS3 will likely be getting exclusive GTA IV content. They also say that GTA IV will tie in with Playstation Home and that exclusive Home unlockables will be made available. They say that a GTA IV home space will come packed with Rockstar-themes T-shirts, caps and other goods that will let you customize your avatar. They also say you will be able to invite friends over to chat in Home before you go on a co-op mission.

Think about the most important aspect.

The control pad.

Which one do you feel more comfortable with for long periods?

I have both consoles, and have pre-ordered on the 360 :)

There is a fake review going around which says that the PS3 version is better than the 360. But yes, it's a fake review, no truth to it.
#13
Difficult to say really when reviews haven't been published, however bearing in mind that it was delayed as there was no exclusivity to either Microsoft or Sony and had to be published on the same day.

The programming problems associated with the PS3 version are what have delayed the title this long, so it all depends I guess on how well programmed it is for the PS3, Rockstar were far more comfortable programming for the architecture of the Xbox 360.

According to this they are identical http://www.dbtechno.com/gaming/2008/01/24/rockstar-blames-ps3-for-delay-of-gta-iv/

Best advice, if you can rent both copies on day of release then decide before buying. Spiteful advice would be to buy the 360 version as its the cack Sony PS3 programming problems that have caused its delay lol.

I don't know much about the PS3, so not saying either way, but anyone know what the PS3 multiplayer will be like? I seem to keep reading how limited the PS3 is for joining friends in games.
Was just wondering, thats all (would make me go 360 if it was an issue though)

Get it for the PS3, the 360 is too unreliable - my friends 360 died a week before Halo 3 release, it took MS 3 weeks to replace it.

As it stands nobody knows what the DLC is going to be, for me to be interested in it it would have to be a whole new theme/setting, ala vice city/san andreas. But I think it is likely to only be some extra missions with an extension of the existing map.

I hate how people talk about the 360 reliability and blow it to some epic proportion. I realise that it does have hardware problems. I'm a pretty intensive user and I've experienced RROD once in one and a half years . Even then I took it to the shop I bought it from, got it replaced within the hour. These people that seem to be on there 15th Xbox are what I like to refer to as 'retarded'.

Not getting it for Xbox 360 on the basis that it might die. Isn't a reason. On that basis, I won't be going to the shop as I might get leprosy.

The DLC was a big factor on why I preordered it for 360. It seems there's a lot of excitement for it. However it seems to get downplayed so much when I'm browsing the PS3 forums. I think if the shoe was on the other foot the PS3 fanboys would be shoving it down the throats of the 360 fans.

xbox 360 has confirmed Extra content, plus acheveos!
#18
Even getting RRoD once is unacceptable - especially when it is a known problem - same reason I chose not to purchase a Canon camera (cracked screen, E18), Samsung D900 (screen crack) etc.

So you are calling people who have had their 360s break on numorous occasions 'retards' - I would think the ones that have had it break yet dont seem to think it is a problem a re... nevermind.

Never in my life have I seen anyone support a piece of consumer electronics the way Xbox fans do. The only reason MS have offered a 3 year warranty is because they would have got sued for zillions.

DLC is fine, but im pretty sure it is going to be pricey - £15ish each, and nobody knows what it is going to contain.

Either way, if you own both consoles just wait until a few reviews start to show to decide which is the best version. But if you feel threatened of your 360 dieing 1 day after you get GTA then get the PS3 version.

Yh i say wait till April 29th to read reviews and you'll see which is best. Dont listen to people who claim PS3 caused the delay due to programming difficulities when Sam Houser, the founder of R* said himself they delayed it go get the online conponent of the game being perfect to fit 16 players in without slowdowns.
#20
I think I'll get it for PS3 since I don't have XBL, have HDMI for PS3 and I only have one game for PS3 right now!
#21
Well, if you dont have XBL then really its a no brainer. End of debate.
#22
Get the 360 one ALL DAY LONG, and if anything changes and you want to get the ps3 one then you will always be able to sell it or trade it and buy the ps3 one?. No probs.
#23
i've set on the xbox myself (buying the console just for this!) only reason is more of my friends own one. Not much seperated the consoles for me other than that, I've not known anybody have theirs crash and mine will be well ventilated anyway if it's still an issue.

So all the articles that reputable editorials listed by doing a quick google search are all a pack of lies then hmmm? http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=ps3+delays+gta&meta=

And I guess the article by the head of Sony Entertainment is also a pack of lies too http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=171287 stating that "The power that we've packed into PS3 will really manifest itself in software titles that come up four, five or six years down the line", Hirai has told Official PlayStation Magazine in its latest issue. During the interview Hirai also addressed the 'issue' of certain developers finding PS3 tough to develop for.

If thats the case then also you shouldn't trust magazine reviews either :whistling: clearly those will be a pack of lies......best bet is to rent or test them in a shop on release.
#25
Its a direct port, so the game will look equally good on the 360 as the ps3, so go for the additional content

This is sensible advice, and what I personally will be doing.
#27
360 imo. I have both a 360 and ps3 and who cares about home integration, with the 360 you should get slightly faster loading times (as its not on a bluray disc), guaranteed exclusive dlc missions, more people playing multiplayer, 1000 xbox live points from many stores (hmv, game etc) and the analog sticks are better/more precise on the 360 pad.

Oh and just because you haven't heard of anyones 360 red ringing does not mean it doesn't happen all the time. Estimates from people in the industry are around a 35-40% failure rate with the consoles, im on my second and i just got 3 red rings last night and it looks like ill soon be on my 3rd. BTW my console is very well ventilated and i turn it off whenever im not using it. Theres some guy quite famous with gaming blogs/podcasts whos on his 12th console now, they console is ridiculously unreliable.

It is pretty strange isn't it? Are there any other examples of such over zealous consumerism outside of console gaming?
#29
360 version for me.
#30
PS3, I'm going to the midnight launch :)
#31
360 :)
#32
Have both consoles, have pre-ordered 360 version from HMV for £39.99 inc 1000 MS points. Gone for 360 version because of, better game pad, xbox live, DLC, gamer points :D

Sorry, just to play devils advocate here, but it happens with every single console and/or computer system ever made. It seems a tad naive, provocative and possibly bias yourself to suggest it is unique to the XBox - imo PS fans are every bit as bad, and I've yet to see a XBox fansite as bad as PSdefenceforce.
I remember far bigger arguiements between Speccy & CBM fans, Amiga & ST, Megadrive & SNES, PS &N64.

Thought I'd also mention that I'm still on my launchday 360 and going strong. I did however, have a huge row with Sony as they wanted to swap my broken 60gb PS3 for a ****** 40gb version (sorted in the end, but a lot of hassle, and has made me somewhat concerned in case my 60gb should fail again in the future).
#34
Im going to wait got both consoles but more then likely the 360 i hate the ps3 controller.
#35
I own a PS3 and you know my hatrid to 360.

I'd say 360 though, purely for the DLC.
#36
Im gonna buy either a 360 or PS3 depending on which one will play better, frame rate and pop-up wise.
#37
im sure it'll be great on both consoles, but im getting for ps3. theres nothing wrong with the controller wen you get used to it, in fact i prefer it as it fits in with the other remotes more elegantly then a bulky white one. My mates mostly have or are getting ps3s so its all good
