Now let me add, I preferably like to play RPG and Racing games. I am not a fan of shoot 'em up and quiz etc type of games. What would you recommend me now? Read More

probably ps3 for GT 5 and slightly quicker loading times on RPG's.

To be honest, I'd say it's a pretty even split across both platforms. GT5 isn't in my opinion going to be a dealbreaker in this regard anymore than Forza 3 is. They're both good racing games (well, presumably GT5 will be lol). Both platforms have a wealth of games in both genres you mentioned, so you're probably best working out which one has the exclusives you're more interested in. Alternatively, pick up a pre-owned Elite with a recent as possible manufacture date and a preowned 80GB PS3 and have the best of both worlds for the same money.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, I heard the new slim 360 has better counter-measures against RROD and the E74 error so if I decide to go the xbox route shouldn't I be going for the slim?

I have both and I get a lot more use out of my PS3. But that's just me and everyone has different tastes.

You should make a list of all the upcoming games you want and maybe decide off that. I find the PS3 much better as a media player and it also has the added bonus of Blu-Ray which is great.

But then if you like using words such as "pwn" and "lol" you would probably prefer the 360 for the online experience. Also, the Kinect might be quite fun and will let you shout at the Eggs Box to control it. I am looking forward to that. It will be like living in the future. I'd love to live in the future, with all those robots and stuff.

They'll have houses on the moon and you can get there in 10 minutes using a jet. Also the cars will float.

Will I notice a massive difference in picture quality between the xbox 360 and the ps3?

hardly touch my ps3, only use for bbc iplayer...gaming / streaming movies all done on xbox which is on at least once or twice a day...ps3 on only one or twice a month...

Xbox all the way mate

either is fine if you want a long RPG, get Sacred 2

Have both, of late been thinking of getting rid of my ps3 just not used that often. I would suggest to get the SLIM LOL.

I play my PS3 much more, the only reason the 360 gets played at all is because I bought brian lara for £3.00 for the 360 and I don't even play that. I've had the 360 for a few years stopped using it after I got my PS3. It also has GT5 :p. But other than that if you're just gonna play RPG games then either is fine but I believe the more value for money is the PS3

forgot to mention games tend to be much cheaper on the 360 then the ps3...game prices drop much quicker e.g. the post above clear shows how cheap games are :)

I prefer the 360 pad's analogue triggers for racing games although you may prefer using a steering wheel in which case that doesn't matter. If you're planning on playing games online with any friends it's worth finding out if there's a preference for one console amongst them.

i prefer the xbox 360 for gaming but dont like forza personally. the xbox control, online and OS is all better than the PS3's, but remember you have to pay for xbox live ( £27-28 p/a).

Depends on the game / development. RDR is supposed to look better on the 360, ghostbusters is another 1 websites claim looks better on the 360.

Neither console is better, but here are the questions you need to ask yourself:

Do you prefer the exclusives on the Xbox or PS3
Which controller do you prefer? (There is a big difference and some people don't like one or the other)
Do you have a lot of friends with either of the consoles?
Do you have the extra cash to drop on a PS3?
Do you want/need the bluray player the PS3 has?

Answer those questions and you will have your answer without needing opinions.

Thanks for all the help, I've decided to go for a brand new Slim xbox 360 and a pre-owned PS3 either 120gb or 250gb.

Pointless? Xbox 360 has the live feature which you will love, if you have friends/fam?

Also, ps3 yes, it may have the bluray and all that but theres no difference in game quality,
