Should I rip my gums out?

Right, yesterday I got an extraction for a tooth (its filing came out) and the dentist cut the gum to get to the tooth. The gum was extremely irritating just flapping about on the lose area and I was poking it with my tongue and it's coming off slowly. Now it's just hanging on but it doesn't want to come off, should I keep it on or fight through the blood and rip it out?

Sorry if this sounds disgusting but I couldn't describe it in any other way.

Cheers

leave it, it'll come off when it's ready (otherwise it may not heal properly and leave your tooth exposed)

rip it out....you wont be satisfied till you do it:_

Rip it out.

I was a dentist in the 80s and we did this all the time.

rinse your mouth with salt water and leave it alone. It should sort itself out.

I would go back but his waiting list is 2 weeks for an appointment and by that time the problem will have gone one way or another.

Might try phoning up though. Cheers

yeah surely you can jump queue saying as you have just had this work done and you're not happy with how it has been left.

haha. I wish I had it, I used to love wobbly teeth, atheletes foot etc. The pleasure I would have just tugging, picking and scratching this ailments.

In Cardiff, during weekdays, we can go to the local dental hospital for emergencies...do you have anything like that there? It's a pain cos you have to get there early and take a ticket so sometimes you may have to come back in the afternoon but they might be able to sort it if the dentist can't fit you in.
