Should I swap my 360 for a Wii?

I've recently been thinking of selling / swapping my Xbox 360 to get a Wii. What are your opinions? Is this a good idea?

The only game I seem to play these days is COD4! Pre-COD gaming was Halo 3. I have other games like Assassins Creed and the Orange Box but they don't really float my boat. The other 20+ games I haven't played in about a year.

The Wii is a good laugh pre and post pub visits with mates and apart from Guitar Hero which I was thinking of buying, Fuzion Frenzy 2 and Scene It can't cut the mustard.

Still the main time spent on the 360 is single player / online play so is the gameplay any good on a Wii or is it good fun but something you lose interest in quickly?

You cant really play the wii alone all the time whereas with the 360 you can.

People say you have to get the wii and then choose between the ps3 and 360.

the xbox 360s are due to go down in price on march 14th by €40 making the base model cheaper than a Wii so it really depends, it may be worth swapping and buying a new one later for a cheaper price.

here is some info on the impending price drop: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/154078/xbox-360-price-cut-14-march

I hear what your saying but I've tried about 101 demos for future 360 games and nearly all seem pants! The only thing keeping my 360 is if single player is pants on the Wii and Gears Of War 2. Although thats not out till November!!!!!! And with the PS3 having Metal Gear Solid 4...... Oh the choices

For once.. i'm going to actually back the 360.

no......the 360 is the only console ive not got bored with....i had the wii.....fun at first...

I wouldn't swap my 360 for a wii. My 360 is on most of the time. My wii hasnt been on since last year
#7
My wiis on just for the lil cousins and so on or when family come around.

Wii has PS2 graphics. Apart from the motion sensor controller, you are going backwards if you go from a 360 to a Wii

Everyones said it - Wii is just basically for loads of people, at parties and so on. Most likely kids parties.

Its really no fun playing by yourself, its so boring

Just my tuppence worth but i think the answer to this is age based, if your young and would like to get girls round to party on your Wii, i imagine thats a great chat up line
If your old like me and it took a week for your shoulder to recover after a game of drunken
Wii tennis sell the xbox and get a mans machine (a Decent PC)

Depends what type of game's you're after. I have both consoles, and at the minute, the 360 edges it as my console of choice due to the excellent online service (xbox live arcade) and because I've been playing Mass Effect/Dead Rising/Eternal Sonata lately, though I have recently picked up No More Heroes for the Wii.

The Wii is a nice console, and the controls are fun when they're used properly, which isn't very often, sadly. There is a whole heap of ****** games on the Wii, which is made worse by the fact Nintendo don't offer any kind of demo service, nor are they likely to. That said, there are some good games too, but it's just a question of how long it's going to take developers to get the controls working as fluidly as in Nintendo's own games.

Some recommended Wii titles are:

No More Heroes - A very fun, crazy action game that makes good, inventive use of the controls.
Super Mario Galaxy - Surely I don't need to explain this one?
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - This is still probably my favourite Wii game.
Warioware Smooth Moves - Probably the best 'party' game out there for the Wii.
Ghost Squad - Again, makes great use of the Wii remote as a light gun - short but fun in co-op mode.
Metroid Prime Corruption - Shows how the wii controls should be used for FPS games on the console.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies - I played this on the Wii before I played the Xbox original version, and I still prefer the Wii version because of the controls.
Trauma Centre - Again, nice use of controls in a game that's a little bit different.
Zack & Wiki - A fun adventure game, with smart use of the controls that's almost like a point and click pc game.

And of course, there's Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers Brawl on the way, plus a new Tales of game (although there's also one being made for the 360).

Honestly though, it all comes down to the type of games you like to play. The Wii does not offer as many solid, single player games in my mind, and its online service (i.e. arcade/dlc/themes etc.) compared to the Xbox is very poor. I can't really speak about online play, because I've only tried Mario Strikers, and it worked fine, but I've never played a game on the Xbox 360 online. Still, I do find myself wishing the wii controls worked with my 360 at times X)

I don't really agree that the Wii is for 'kids' exclusively, there's plenty of decent games if people are prepared look for them. All my non-gamer mates will happily go a round of Wii tennis with me though, if I handed them an Xbox pad, they'd just give me a blank stare.

I bought the Orange Box and played TF2 as everyone was telling me it was da nutz! But it must be my connection or something as the lag on the game is awful. I don't seem to have problems with any other online game (apart from Prey, which I played for about 2 minutes before realising I would never insult my 360 with its poor lagging again)

The games I'm missing are the light gun games from back in the day like Time Crisis and House of the Dead. As far as I'm aware, there isn't any light-gun games for either the 360 or the PS3. Come on MS and Sony, sort it out!

time crisis for the ps3,

none for the 360, but then after playing resident evil:UC and Ghost Squad on the wii, i have relised how rubbish they are

im gonna be super biased here and say stick with the 360. the wii was great for about a week for me. just got bored after awhile and its definately a more social machine. whereas the 360 i play online with family anyway and can alone without feeling lick a sadcase.
