Nevermind IE8. It's certainly the best browser MS have produced, but Firefox with the Adblock Plus plugin just makes the internet so, so much more pleasurable to use. No adverts. Superfast access to all your websites. It's great.

Mozilla for the win :)

The fastest browser is Avant. It is based on IE but works much better. I like the double browser icon - blue for normal browsing and green for private. They have a Firefox based one too called Orca.

Palemoon projects version is better, it uses less resources, after a few hours with using firefox, opening/closing tab its using 600,000+k palemoon has never gone over 220,000k even after a few days of being open.

Strange. I've used IE for years with no issues whatsoever. I must be lucky I guess.

Internet Explorer -

Slow interface when adding fav's and naming them, the toolbar is clunky.
Rarely remembers passwords!!
Too much junk with all the accelerators etc.

Firefox -

Great UI, Remembers passwords and relatively fast

Chrome -

The best, fast, like the UI, not too clunky, favourites bar is awesome.

Need to try others

yeah - avant used to be quite good but FF is infintely better imho due to the amazing extensions. When I am forced to use IE its like going from windows7 back to windows95 lol. It really is that bad.

FF > chrome > Opera > avant > IE8

they still hold over 50% of the market share with firefox below 30%, chrome bringing up the rear followed by safari

W3C says otherwise.

Terrible browser, can't stand it. Firefox for me.

They only hold so much market share because it was installed automatically on Windows computers and oldies havn't thought of finding something better.

what is the criteria they used?

Anyway, our data, collected from W3Schools' log-files

what are these log files out of interest?

What's market share got to do with whether one browser is better than the other?

That makes my Volkswagen better than my boss's Porsche.

the point was csiman saying having ie is sooo 20thcentury..........yet he is in the minority

most people only use it for browsing, bookmarking and basics so it hardly matters what they use:)

This argument might stand up if VW's and Porsches were the same price, as are IE and other internet browsers.

As all browsers are the same price, ie free, then yes, the market share is at least a measure of which one people prefer, if not how much better one is than the other.

So my point stands, market share is irrelevant.

There's loads of different reasons.
The main one is that I.E is/was bundled with every PC built.

If you stopped 100 people in the street, 99 would have heard of IE, maybe 20 may of heard of the rest combined.

So it's little to do with what people prefer, as the majority of them have never tried or even heard of another browser.

Tried this out, but uninstalled it - it is as sloooooooooow as Firefox even though it claims to improve upon it. Sticking with Avant despite what the objectors say :)

cant say I have noticed much difference except it is very good at recovering memory from closed tabs. Doesnt seem any quicker than firefox but then again firefox loads page instantly anyway.

gonna stick with it now

cheers
