Would put a stop to the idiots who keep expiring deals.

Thoughts?

what about the idiots who post deals that need to be expired quickly

only joking, dont take it seriously.
#3
there normally expired for a reason,

I can see your point OP, but would it work? wouldnt it just add to workload for no gain?
Some are expired for good reason, even fresh posted ones, I have a few times tried a freshly posted discount code to find it already expired/not working.

Of course you can ask for a deal to be restored, but that doesnt solve the issue
I cant think of a better system than the one at the moment, or you would need loads more mods, and they also might make a mistake and delete it or let it stay when it has expired.

thats a bit harsh as someone is taking the time to post up something they hope might help someone save a bit money. The search engine on here isnt the best!

I do agree though with the OP :)

Anyone who abuse's there voting power would dealt with and voting restrictions put in place by a moderator this applies to any thread on the forum,

its takes a few low post count members to expire a deal/spam ( if a deal is wrongly expired by mistake hit the report button and ask it to be unexpired )

and one member with a high post count to expire.

if moderators were to do this it would take to much time and pulling them away from more important things on the forum.

That is why members are supposed to expire deals

when they become out of stock, price has gone up etc

or on the occasion a duplicate post, which there are usually certain moderators who deal withthat when threads go up.

or when another member is posting does a search and finds the deal is more than 4 weeks old and can re-post thus expiring the old thread

there are probs 2 or 3 mods online once at a time at a push so its a bit of a stupid idea, the whole point of the expire/spam buttons are for member use also.

Think how many threads are posted per minute whether thats deals/FS/FT/vouchers etc they have to cover all of these, so if something is expired wrongly just click the report button http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/images/custom_buttons/report.gif and this message will go directly to them and they can take the appropriate action

OP set the tone by calling people who expire deals idiots
And if a deal is wrongly expired its not the end of the world

How about giving longstanding members like me mod powers then to lighten their workload? :whistling: :-D

Seriously, you didn't include the people (members or non-members) who expire deals in order to prevent others from seeing deals like has happened with the recent Pixmania and Tesco misprices.

if it bothers you report the thread in question mods will look into it

* Abuse of the voting system, reputation, expiry and spam buttons will lead to a ban from the forums.

The Pixmania threads from what i have seen are down to user/customer dealings with them, which i would assume is the reason why they are being expired.

which members shouldn't be doing as a deal is a deal even if it is a mis-price

When it comes to mis-price's its pot luck weather it is honoured or not

Duplicates should always be spammed rather than expired, once expired the deal stays until Mod removed...spammed by a couple of members and the deal auto deletes.

Correct forgot to mention that duplicates are supposed to be spammed :)

People should learn to spam instead of hitting expire for everything...

What is needed is having to give an explanation of why you are expiring in a post. So If I expire something because the price has gone up it has to be posted why I've done it.
