It amazes me that people still keep their computers so close to where they sit. I don;t use a desktop anymore, but when I did, and when I was still obsessive about being high-end and etc, my PC was kept in the hall or in my eaves, and hooked up to my gear by the longest cables I could find. Who wants to shed a tonne of deskspace to their case, or knock their knees off it all the time, or want to hear those whirring fans and noisy harddrives?

I'm a bit **** about things being tidy, certain areas of the house.. Home entertainment area, living room and office space. Anywhere else, i don't care.. But if any of the holy "areas" are not organized, it makes me feel really uncomfortable. OCD or some crap.

Burgle away richard, just don't make a mess!

I am housing it under the desk, soon once i get the housing area sorted. New case is a little cramp in there, so need to cut some ventalation. It's a mexican pine desk, so friend of mine is gonna do it properly.. As i'd likely duff the job.

Silverstone Fortress FT01 is about as quiet as a case gets, equally, the Artic Freezer Pro Rev.2 is one of the best HSF in terms of noise to performance ratio.. It won't beat top end coolers, but then it's near inaudible. Also, SSDs don't make a sound ;).

I often keep my PC on top after any change, just incase i need to tweak anything or cables need re-doing. Waiting for an 8pin extension cable to arrive, so i don't have to put the motherboard cable over the GFX card.

I had a 27” iMac and this PC for a while..

I absolutely love iMacs – but it felt wasted.. I’d often use my PC for gaming, then never go on the iMac because i couldn’t be bothered swapping desks.

I’ve got a macbook now for the apple fix, if i didn’t enjoy the odd bit of PC gaming though, i’d go full iMac / Macbook.

I badly want a new Macbook pro now, wish I was still a Mac admin as I'd have got one with the job :(

Best laptops in the world macbooks, love them to pieces.

It's a shame, if Apple started putting "reasonable priced" high end GFX cards into their iMacs or macbooks, they'd make a better alternative for people who want to game.

Even the new Macbook Pros, the highest end card option is a 6750M, which is only a mid end performance card... and that's from a brand new refresh!. So that'll be the standard top end GFX for the macbook line for almost a year, so it's only gonna age more..

Same with the iMac, 5750 is the highest you can go. Leaves them so massively behind for that kind of thing. It's the only thing that annoys me.

I guess it's such a smaller part of the overall market that would like that, so they don't try and fill the gap. Still annoys me though, as i'm in that "smaller part" :).

Macs never have and never will be gaming machines which is why you will not see a highend graphics card in them. For their purpose the balance is about right for what they put in them.

Your choices vary with the Mac Pro but the highend card options in them are more industrial strength.

Unless apple started producing their own chips/cards there will always be a lag (no pun intended) on released graphics options due to PC demand over Mac machines. Its just not cost effective for Nvidea etc. to modify high end cards for what is effectively a 7% market share.

Thats true, spritey's place is now safe! I would post mine but I've got boxes right, left and centre where I'm trying to pack up ready to move in a couple of months time and it's slow work.
