Sick after work Xmas meal out

Went to what is meant to be a nice restaurant for our work xmas meal and halfway through I started feeling a bit dodgy. By the time my desert came I was unable to finish it and felt like I was gona vom. Sure enough when I got home I threw up. I reckon it was the mayo type sauce that was on the chicken salad I got for starters cos no one else got it

anyway should I complain and if so what do people recommend?

If you really think it was the food from the restaurant, then I would complain.

I know for a fact it was, I ate hardly anything else all day, had hardly anything to drink and felt fine before the meal and more or less straight after I threw up

surely it wouldn't have happened that quick. possibly summit you ate earlier in day, or even day before.

have any colleagues complained about being ill

You must contact the local council and ask to be put through to the Enviromental Health Officers(EHO) as any food poisoning in such cases should be reported and yes it can happen that quick :x

I knew straight away that the food the restaurant was serving was at fault

I thought fod poisoning took around 8 hours to kick in?

Could have been a reaction of some sorts...

Yes usually but it can be affected by many things including pre exsisiting conditions and also the level of contamination. The EHO will check all reasons and yes also if you are allergic to any food stuffs:x

I always thought that if you got proper food poisoning then it was a pretty serious bout of sickness etc you were in for not feeling fine more or less straight away after you spewed.
More likely just to be one of those things. Sometimes you just feel sick its not always someones fault.

in fact readong this then I severely doubt that it was the food at the restaurant.

Its unlikely to have been the restaurant unless there was a toxin present. Its far more lilely to have been the Winter vomiting bug (norwalk virus) which you probably caught several days before. It seems to be doing the rounds at the moment.....

It's rare, but possible, for you to react so quickly to food poisoning. The best thing to do is go and see your doctor and get a diagnosis. Then if it is deemed as food poisoning you have some ammo to go to the restaurant with.

As already stated food poisioning normally takes a lot longer, can be rather painful and lasts a lot longer...

I very much doubt you caught anything at the restaurant.

You are within your rights to complain to/via the relevant channels just to be on the safe side, or whether they have been other reported incidents concerning this particular establisment!

I wish you the best of luck either way.

I'm not a doctor but agree with above that food poisoning takes longer to kick in, I should say that the lack of food and drink throughout the day won't have helped in making you feel sick.
