No need for you to go sick then as you have only half your week full anyway!! :whistling:

My last sick day was Novemeber 07, I pulled a muscle in my back took me ages to get my socks on, agony getting in to my car, drove a short distance and thought, nope no way am i going to be able to cope today, believe I only had one day off sick for it, although my back wasn't right for approximately 5 months

Snap! Funny how that headache doesn't seem so bad!
#10
Like Chester123, no work = no pay, so removes the incentive to pull a sicky or be ill.

I am reluctant to take a holiday as it is, nevermind a sick day.

At Easter 2002, I had Tuesday to Friday of with Chicken Pox. Apart from that, I've not had a day off in 14 years through sickness.
#14
I take at least a week a year, class it as extra leave. I get 10 days a year before questions are asked.
I fail to believe no one else does this. Your no better thought of for not taking sick leave.
I went 8 years in the Army without a sick day mind

Personally – i’ve got to have flu or something to really knock me to stop me from coming into work and take a sick day.

Reasons being personally..

1) Puts you in a good position when negotiating a pay rise at end of the year.

2) My employers (past and present) have always been very flexible when it comes to Holiday.. So say i wanted today off, i could book it the day before without a problem. (Unless something very important for the next day). So why take the **** with ya employeer when he/she is flexible with your needs.

3) If I ever have to take a large chunk of sick leave. Say flu just knocks me for 2 weeks – i like my employer to consider me someone who only takes sick leave when he needs it so i wouldn’t be questioned.

Wow, that sounds incredibly boring.

I'm self-employed so can take a day off if I feel like it, unless I have a deadline.

When I worked I took the occasional day because I didn't feel like going to work. Kinda decided the old 9-5 sucked when people felt this wasn't the 'done thing'.

I had a week and a half off when I got Pneumonia a year ago. Apart from that... nothing of any note while I've worked (7ish years)

In what way is it boring? I enjoy my work. I'm not a skiver. What's the problem with that?

Ah. I can the problem now. You think I've not had a day off work. Did you miss the part where it says "sickness"?

When you worked? I don't geddit. You either work or you don't. Or is "self Employeed non worker" the new name for a dole scrounger?

I've taken 5 days so far this year and probably about 10 in the last year. I usually come into the office first so my employers can see I am ill and they can send me home. I suffer bad migraines too (probably as a result of looking on HUKD to much) so that comes up now and again. The bosses dont mind too much because I generally work in the evenings and weekends too taking calls from clients and filling roles etc.

So you never think that you could go to the beach or a funfair instead of working? Or you've never gone out the night before and are so hanging that you couldn't face a day in an office?

I'm self-employed now so I can kinda choose when I work and when I don't. I used to work in an office.

Not a fact - an OPINION.

Sick days are for people who can think of something better to do than go to work.

Thinking about it and doing it are two seperate things. I guess it all depends on your morals and standards as to what you chose to do.

Hmmm. So you do actually do some work?

You're just confused. Sick days are days you don't go into work because you're not feeling well.

Or they're days when you phone up and tell your boss you're sick, you put on a funny voice and then you go and do something fun.

My morals are pretty sound - I just think 'Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.'

But you think it's ok to steal off your employer by fraudulently claiming to be ill and being paid for days you don't turn up?

That doesn't suggest your morals are particularly sound tbh.
#36
I have had about 4 days sick in the last year......because I work in a kitchen I have to be 48hrs clear of vomiting/ diarrhea before I can go back, even if I feel fine.

Are you calling me a 'time-thief'? You actually buy into all that corporate stuff:-D

Seriously, if you want to look back on your life and think about how you didn't take a naughty sick day then that's fine. Whatever floats your boat.

I doubt I'll look back on the days I called in sick because I had some of the best nights of my life with any sense of guilt.

I guess that'd be the case.... and one with low morals.

Funnily enough, I have weekends off from work and 38 days holidays (including BH).

I dont feel the need to be a thief.
