sold this game factory sealed some time ago now, the buyer claims the activation code has been used, supposedly having been told this by Ubi! (see his full email below). How can this be, it was a new and sealed game - is he a scammer? Is there a way I can get some kind of confirmation to prove this one way or another or should I go to Ubi myself? Here's his email:

"I purchased the above game, installed it and then tried to activate it. When I put the activation code in it states that the game has already been activated! I wrote to Ubisoft about this (along with sending various documents) and they stated that it has been activated by another user and I should get in touch with the retailer about the above.'

If they are on Uplay why not add them as a friend using your own account, I'm sure you can see their games to get an easy answer.

I'd possibly email the buyer with some generic advice to get them on side to thinking that you don't really have a game plan, something the likes of

"Please first check that the code you entered is correct and that 1's etc have not been substituted for I's", then go on to ask if they've had a copy of this game activated on their account previously. If they say no then your next message would be to ask for their ID add them as a "friend" and go and see if the game is in their games list.

Ok, I'll send the first message to him now. Unfortunately though I don't have a UPlay account myself so if I have to ask for his ID and ask them to add me, could I give him your ID as mine?

Just register your own one. Quite straightforward to do.

I've had this is the past, with a game that was sealed, I believe the shop i purchased from just re-sealed it after someone brought it back for a refund..
I ended up having to take a picture of the receipt and send it to the software publisher who cancelled the original key and gave me a new one.. did get it but was a pain..

This is his response:

'Regarding your earlier email regarding SH5 and the activation code.

My user name is ziggy19771977 and the activation code is SH5-MAWW-LPMW-MYL3-LAD4

I did mention to Ubisoft that this game was brand new wrapped in cellophane etc etc and the reply I received was "You will need to return this game for a refund or a new copy as the game is already activated in another account
"

I really don't know what to do now - the game was new and factory sealed, I do not see how it is possible the code could have been used...
