#3

its three for hardware failures causing ring of death and apparently you dont have to do it in ten days. i took it out in jan still havent had any paperwork back, probably say leave it, in three years theyll be cheap as,do as isay not as i do! your choice i took it out for piece of mind.

The 3 year warranty from Microsoft would be plenty and if you happened to drop it and break it then that's what accidental cover on your contents insurance is for.

Well if you dont need the space you wont have a problem. Do you have Xbox 360 Core or Xbox 360 Premium? The only thing i suggest is you do is buy Xbox 360 Subscription
#11
Says he has the hard drive so my guess is premium :)

correct

what subscription? you mean xbox live? i won't play enough for live to be worth it
#13
noooooooooooooooooo waste of money

Multiplayer live is great but it all depends on the game....

For the past 7 months I've played COD3 live nearly every night and I'm still not bored with it. Every game is different because everytime you play you're playing with or against different people. The live membership is the biggest thing the 360 has over the PS3 (playstation home will take years to catch up)....

Even if you are a billy-no-mates-with-an-xbox360 - you can still play against strangers...

Nothing better than watching the enemy (who just killed you) run round the corner on to the mine you just placed......
#15
Do we have to have a receipt from where and when you bough it, for this warranty or can you just return the console on its own without it?

You can return without it, they usually just check you've registered the console.

Yep true -- im not renewing my xbox live for 1 reason i dont use ti enough

I have pro evo which is gr8 but im sick of playing noobs or ppl who score in the 90th min with sum jammy **** goal

I dont have enoguh online games to warrant another year membership

I used to play pgr3 online religiously but then i got real bored with the tracks -- i wish i had americas army on my comp still as i loved that

thats where the ps3 is tempting me its free and that means i have no sub i just play whenever i want

wish there was xbox live " pay as you play "

where do you register your xbox 360?

You register your 360 when it goes wrong. They will ask you your name address etc. NO receipt or proof of ownership is required. So long as it hasn't already been registered. I.e. Secondhand then yYou contact microsoft and they in turn send a nice UPS man/woman out to collect your box.

AA? are you on about breakdown cover or being drunk all the time :-D

using this thread to continue a discussion about using an external hardrive with the xbox 360 and playing movies etc

my results so far:
using my WD mybook 250gb i can play songs/view pictures without any problem

i cannot play any movies, the 360 "cannot find any"
#21
morales
cannot play divx movies, xbox 360 doesn't recognise this format

Can if you know what you're doing, try a Google search on xbox 360 +divx
#22
Already posted this to the 'Elite' topic but it makes more sense here with regard to playing DivX and other formats the 360 doesn't natively support:

There are ways of doing this. IMHO the best way is using http://tversity.com/.

This converts pretty much any audio/video format to a format that the 360 can play, real-time over a local area network.

If you have a PC that is up to the job and you don't mind leaving it on to share the videos across from then it is well worth looking in to. This is how I access all of my music (ripped as .FLAC files) and various videos.

If you have any questions about getting it going I should be able to help out. :)

Here is my tip

Buy a Live subscription. Buy Rainbow Six Vegas (17.99 most places now). Enjoy! Best game so far IMHO.

Additionally, get some MS points and wait to get Sensible world of soccer, out at the end of the month.

in the end just connected it to the router, but if anyone could tell me how to allow the connection through my laptop i would really appreciate it.

TVersity is using 100% of my cpu when my xbox is browsing through it, how can this be solved?

Can't say I have that problem, however only one person on friendlist has this game, so I only invite him.

Quality game, hope COD 4 is as good as this?:geek:

I tried using TVersity and it struggled to play large files and the quality was not exactly great. If you have Windows media centre installed on your computer i would recomend installing Nero and using the Media Home software that comes with it to stream video using the media centre feature in the 360. As long as you have the codecs installed it will play the file, ive had no probs with its really easy to use.

I couldn't get Tversity to work, though didn't spend much time trying. I just transcode any divx/avi/xvid files I want to play into WMV format. This does take a bit of time but works for me.

I have an external WD HD as well, but now just stream the wmv files from my PC wirelessly.

It's only £2-£3 a month! People make it sound like it costs a fortune to get online. It's barely a return bus ticket or ONE game at an arcade!

XBOX 360 is nothing without Live. But with it, it's the best console around!
