is it possible to get a virus on a sim card? my partner has an iphone 3 and he jail broke it but then restored it, as of yesterday he kept getting a message saying you need as least 17p to access the wap blah blah, so he topped up today with £10 but the message kept on coming, it also took some money off his phone, so we thought it might be an app trying to get on the net, but even after he topped up the message saying you need 17p has come up about 100 times, in the end he took his sim out as it was getting on his nerves and put it in his old phone which is only a £15 one from asda, after 5mins of switching the phone on the same message keeps on coming up about the 17p so now were thinking it must be a problem with the sim, has anyone else ever had a problem similar, we are going to ring o2 tomorrow and see what they suggest.

Yeah if it's pay as you go then maybe the net is costing a bomb. It may be possible for the phone to have got into a minus amount of credit so topping it up will probably just cause it to gobble up again.

Viruses would be on the phone and not the actual sim. Goes back to the age old argument of phones trying to be computers etc...

i wasnt sure if he might of downloaded a dodgy app or something, its so annoying his phone just keeps beeping every 10 seconds with the message, we did ring o2 this morning but that was before we realised there must be a problem with the sim, hes just restored it and its still doing it.

it only took 6p off him and hes still got £10 so its not took any more thats why we dont get why the 17p message keeps coming up as theres £10 on it.

What network APN settings have you got on the iPhone? Check that they are consistent with your network. e.g. o2 payg is payandgo.o2.co.uk etc.
