Sim not working in an unblocked phone – W550i

Hi,

Can someone please help and advise why this is,

I bought a Sony Ericsson W550I on orange and I have been using an O2 sim in this phone, so the phone must be unblocked, however, when I tired putting a 3 network sim in to the phone yesterday, the SIM is not working in the phone.

Thanks

is that W550i a 3g phone? If not a 3 sim or a other network 3g sim will never work in it as those are USIMs which do not work in 2g phones.

If o2 and orange works in it then it is unlocked.

Thanks schizoboy,

I’m not too sure if the W550i is a 3g phone, the 3 sim came with my 3 year old Nokia 7600 phone

The W550i is a much more newer handset than the 7600 and I thought all phones would have now gone onto 3g.

I have another question, is the Nokia 6111 a 3g phone as I may try sim in this phone

Thanks

Compare the 3 network Sim card to the Orange one. I think you will find they are different.
I have had this problem with a V3 and other Motorola Mobiles.
I suspect it is unlocked but only to T-Mobile, Vodaphone and O2.

There are plenty of new phones about which are non-3g, mostly budget to midrange, that W550i is midrangeish I'd say:

2100mhz = 3g I think, which that phone lacks.
