Simply Electronics - A Warning !!!

HumphmanHumphman

I recently ordered a digital camera from the above company, as having done quite a bit of searching, they came out the cheapest. Well after waiting 3 weeks for a 2-8 day despatch, I cancelled it and was assured of a refund within 7 days, 6 weeks later I'm still fighting for it, and am sending all the details to my solicitor. Be warned, never ever use this cowboy outfit, they make all the right noises but do not deliver - literally !!
p.s. Ordered same camera on Amazon and got it next day !!!!

I have made a transaction without doing much research
So far i have had a good experience with online transactions for years
    This is the worst experience
I am still awaiting refunding after more than two weeks when I could potentially take minutes
there are negative reviews about this company all over the internet
i must blame myself for my mistake
PS; amazon still have good rating for them (surprise, surprise...) even after serious complaints

Ecky-thump!! Am waiting for a HTC phone ordered last Wednesday. Now I dont know what to do; wait a few days longer; cancel credit card? Is it likely to be grey goods and thus no guarantee? Anyone any ideas?

Most likely a grey import. This site has a habit of taking orders when they have no stock, and also they wont ship till they have enough to cover shipping costs to uk.

I tried contacting Simply Electronics this morning by phone, but its just a recorded message. There's no email address I can find for them, and with all the comments on this site it looks as though I'll have to contact my credit card company and report it. They haven't even bothered to send me an email confirming my order, and the screen on my old phone which I am using until the replacement comes has decided not to work. The cats hungry as well - and the bins havent been emptied. http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/403729/simply-electronics-a-warning/images/smilies/icon_confused.gif

This company have scammed over £200 out of my husband who ordered a camera for my birthday 2 months age.The first email said they did not have the one he ordered in stock but offered an alternative, he refused, they took his money, he asked for his money back, they said it would be refunded, nothing, telephoned them x2 they said he would get his money back, nothing. Now credit card statement shows they took his money and no refund so he has contacted the credit card company to get a refund due to this fraudulent activity.
Unforunately he can't be bothered to contact watchdog and won't let me grrr! Their email address is down having maintenance (what a surprise) hence i am posting here as I can't shout at them!!!

I've now raised a dispute through Barclaycard against Simplyabunchachancers. I made the order on the 27th, site said there were 9 units in stock and sent within 1-2 days, confirmation said 3-10 days (I put this down to the festive period). It hadn't been sent by the 6th so I cancelled & ordered from Camerabox the same day. Camerabox order arrives on the 11th then CC statement arrives on the 16th telling me Simplyturds took the money on day of purchase. Several e-mails later and they still have my money... I would be very aware if you are thinking of doing business with them. I won't. Their e-mail replies are just stock 'We're trying our best and it's been passed to the appropriate dept.' patronising kinda things, which just infuriate you.
Before I purchased I asked around and only one person had used them, but found no problem. The address I got was in Jersey not HK.

    They are a SCAM!!!

I bought a sony camera for £650 pounds. After this, I start to get suspicious and send emails and try to call them. Took them 3 days to return my email and ask for a image of my card and a utility bill. As I rent with all include, i don't have a utility bill, so I sent the card and a bank statement from other bank (Detail, the debit card used to buy the camera, the bank statement and the delivery address are the same). Since them, they stop answer e-mail and the phone no one answer. Today finally, someone answer the phone, but again, they can't deliver the camera and therefore, they have to cancel my purchase.

They don't know when they will return my money and they can't inform anything else.

I am going to the police now and I will post information about this SCAM in all websites that I can.

Please be aware that they will not deliver the stuff you buy and god know if they will return my money!

    Thanks,

    Fabio

We are a bunch of customers treated badly by Simply Electronics who want to help support others who are/were having problems with this company. It is easy with a little knowledge to find lots information about them. I have discovered addresses in Scotland, Newbury, London, IOW and Hong Kong. They were Ltd but as from January 2010 are no longer a Limited company. Please help us with any information by posting on simplyelectronicsNOT on UTube or http://simplyelectronicsnot.webs.com where your help is always welcome, as we have basic skills

Im a bit confused? Ive always ordered from Simply Electronics and found them very good with price and delivery until recently. I ordered a £5k camera from them which took nearly 2 weeks to dispatch, despite the promise of a 2-5 day delivery! Then the couriers say they have been to pick it up twice but they wont release it and simply electronics are saying the couriers have it and they are not telling me the truth. Neither one will accept they have it and I have emailed them constantly, even the vanessa@ address that was on here but not getting a reply. When I call them they just say 'I can promise you maam that the item was dispatched and will be with you tomorrow'...well theyve said that for the past 5 days to me.

Has anyone got any advice on this please. I would consider this matter as being theft if they have my money but refusing to dispatch the camera, but what can you do when the company is based in Hong Kong.

I am really worried about the amount of money Ive lost and did a search on google under SIMPLY ELECTRONICS which was automatically completed with SCAM COMPANY by google. I then read that their limited UK company was dissolved in jan 2010!!!

Could anyone advise on what I can do legally here?

    Most appreciated

Why are you confused there are more of us clearly stating we are unhappy , we have not got our products etc. None of us want to be here with our bad news. I rather be here talking about a company that is fantastic like Apple the iphone does what it says on the tin.

Unfortunately i too have made the mistake of ordering from simply electronics.

I did this though as last year i ordered a sigma flash from them and the experience was very good. I received the flash the very next day from ordering.. so i thought that i would use them again.. how wrong i was!

I ordered a canon 24-105 f4L from them on the 9th April, with an expected delivery time of 2-5 days as quoted by them. Unfortunately day 5 soon rolls around and still no lens.. i have since been "trying" to communicate with them ever since then, with many promise both verbally and via e-mail that the lens is being shipped today etc etc and will be with me tomorrow. After many calls and being cut off countless times I have now lost my patience with this company, at one point i even said to the woman on the phone that you have my money, yet i haven't got a lens, to which she replied, "yes we have your money, we took it from you account" !!!! am i crazy, but i don't think this is what you should be saying to a disgruntled customer! I even asked them if they actually have the lens in stock, to which i was assured, also saying i understand if there has been a problem getting the lens to me if it were coming via plane with all the recent airport closures. However, she said now, the lens was in the UK and would be with me tomorrow!!

I have since instructed them verbally and by e-mail to cancel my order, and have been told that the lens is being shipped tomorrow and will be with me by friday (not quite what i meant by could you cancel my order) also now the order status on the website states cancellation in progress!! actually do not know what to think anymore.. and am fearing the worst that i may be out of pocket to the tune of £758!

the good thing here, is hukd threads appear often in google searches. so this should point as a warning to people, learn to investigate the place you buying from too.
If it helps, there is a thread on avforums about this place, and there is a simply electronics staff member that often monitors and responds in that thread

Ordered a Panasonic FZ38 on the 21st june with Simply Electronics said at that time there were 4 in stock. Its now 8 days later and the order is still processing. They obviously had no stock in when I ordered it but still like to take your money. Is this FRAUD? I've had the usual automated emails stating that due to large orders there is a delay in dealing with your order, Bull***t. They never had the camera in the first place. I just wish I'd read the reviews before I ordered it. By the way the camera is £222 with simply electronics and £250 with most UK stockists, worth paying the extra £28 for, and their cameras exist.
