I'm actually doing ok surprisingly, as long as no major emergencies come along.

Get paid on the 23rd too, so just under 3 weeks away ain't too bad.

Last year I had a terrible January living on beans and toast. Somehow I spent very little this Christmas Eve and New Year so I should be rather comfortable for a change :)

I feel for those made redundant and hours cut. It makes me appreciate what I have etc.

The interest rates are killing me.

Not sure the best place to invest now.

Ironically, although I'm out of a job I still have a 5 figure sum to last me til then end of the year....which I've never had before. the hardest part will be finding another job...and deciding which deals to buy on here of course! :)

I should probably be using the excess cash to pay off the credit card I bought those beans on

Have you thought about ISF.L shares. Seems a good time to get on board.
Especially if you can leave it there long term.

The last time I stuck 5K into one of these things, it was worth 3K after 2 years! Fortunately it went back up to 4K and I cut my losses and ran.

I got made redundant earlier this year and got a largish payoff.
I have cleared my mortgage and last week cleared my credit cards.
I have now shoved a big chunk of whats left in there.
I'm just hoping I can afford to leave it for a good year or so.
I suppose I could end up with egg on my face, but then the toast would then come in handy.
