Don't connect as tv out ahah - when you plug them in the options should popup - from that choose either headset or headPhones - whichever is visible :) should sort things out :)

hmm tried all the things.. even when I select it then also its the same story... also Headphones is the default option set already still the same problem. Called Nokia care afte 20 mins of strugle they told if your headphones have mic then they wont work with 5800 :( I didnt believe that though

Hmm my sennheissers work fine... And they have a mic on them (although the mix doesn't work with the phone)...

Determine which is faulty - the phone or the headphones (might be neither)

1. Plug in some other headphones into the phone and see if they work. If other headphones don't work either, then you've got some sort of problem with your phone. Could be hardware related (which would require a replacement phone) or possible some software glitch (try a factory reset)

2. Try your Skullcandy headphones with something else (mp3 player, computer, hifi... whatever). If they don't work, then you need to get them replaced

If both work fine on their own then the handshake must not be present between the headphones and phone :/

you can press the button on the mic, then plug in the headset and you can select it as earphones. but you have to hold the button to hear the right sound, so i did it with adhesive tape.

Man thats true.. I got to know before by trail and error. But I cant do it all the time nor the adhesive looks very bad :(. let me know what else needs to be done and also. Is it the same with Bose headphones with MIC also? what exactly is the problem with Nokia is it the Firmware?

you can kinda lyk half insert it
the same way i used my nokia headphones for my laptop
instead of fully inserting it just insert it till 3/4 th u ll still get the option of headphone etc
2nd method insert it fully and start pulling it out slowly until you can hear clearly :D:D
and by the way NOKIA SUCKS !!

Try using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm adapter to your earphones which nokia supports.. you can find one on ebay
