For the last few months Sky has been playing up, on the sky anytime ometimes the programmes jump and freeze, but the main problem now is 4 things today and tonight have not recorded they say clashed but there was nothing for them to clash with, this has happened a few times over the past 2 weeks most of my programmes say 'clashed' and as stated there was nothing for them to clash with, they were supposed to record hour apart from each other.
Just wondered if anyone on here had ever had this problem and knew how to fix

Silly question - BUT have you tried re-setting the box?

And / or going back to the original settings then taking it from there? Removng the viewing card and so on.....

how do I reset the box - does that mean turning off at the plug - tried that, and how do I go back to original settings, I will try removing the viewing card tomorrow

try a planner rebuid then if that doesnt help try

(Services > 4 > 01 > Select) to reset

Thank for your help but Im afraid of it - dont really know what I am doing tried the services thing - nothing happens and tried googleing it will probably have to call them out thanks again X

Switch the box off. Leave 30 seconds, switch on again whilst holding down the < and > buttons ON THE BOX NOT REMOTE until the green light comes on (about 30 seconds), then go and make a cup of tea for five minutes. It will reset everything and force a software download abnd disc format. You will lose everything set to record and any recordings but will start afresh.

If you need any help more help pm me and I will try to help you out as you go along..... But the advice above is just as good....

ring them this happened to me a few weeks ago things were clashing with nothing the man on phone told me what to do while he was on phone and he did a check from his end all got fixed there and then and ive had no probs since :)

we had the same problems. We could them and they talked us through it and it worked fine for about a month and then started doing it again.
Apparently there is a particular make of sky box (one of the amstrads i believe) that has this fault.
In the end we found by googling the name of our box that it was the faulty make.
We put it all in an email to a particular person at sky and they sent a new sky + box out.
