  They plug into your electrical sockets and use the existing electrical cables like ethernet cable.

  As deek said you plug one in near your sky box, then use small Ethernet cable to sky box, plug one in near your router, again use another small Ethernet cable to router.

  I bought some ebuyer value ones about 4 years ago, I got rid of them as they were no good for streaming high quality video.
  
  They were ok, but the speed was poor, should imagine you can get faster ones for less money now.

  I use homeplugs as well.
  
  Initially went for more expensive ones that had a plug outlet so you didn't lose a socket but since learned you barely lose any speed if it's on a multiplug adapter. I have a mix and match of ebuyer generic and dlink, took a bit of research to make sure they were compatible.

  Loads on Amazon. I don't know much about them but make sure you get pass through ones otherwise you lose the use of 2 sockets. These went hot on here when posted a few months back.

  You should also check the quality of your wiring. Just because the homeplugs say 200mbps does not mean you will get that.
  
  I live in an old house and the wiring can only hack around 5mb.

  Also check your wiring. I tried these but have two circuits, one upstairs and one downstairs. The router is upstairs and sky box downstairs so would not work.

  All you need to do it run some thin bell wire from the upstairs sockets to the downstairs ones just for the signal, the cable should be small enough to not jam your window when it shuts.
