ha yeah I thought I'd save you a phonecall.

is it stuck in stand by?
Have you disconnected the phoneline?

reconnect the phoneline, see if that solves it

if not, unplug for 60 secs, hold in back up on the front of the box, then plug back in - wait til message regarding download appears then release the backup button - takes about 10 mins

this will clear your planner though.

if that doesn't work - time for a replacement i'm afraid - argue to get a new one and not a refurb! espescially if you paid for a new box

Similar to what we were told recently -

Unplug
Hold backup button down
Plug back in (while holding backup button)
Keep holding backup button until all (4) lights come on
Let go of backup button
Wait at least 10 minutes (I would wait 15 though from personal experience this is better) and then try turning it on

Note: We had to do this twice.

Also - you wont lose the stuff from your planner (we didnt!)

Apologies - that is the 'soft' restart that doesn't clear your planner.

A'reformat' will clear your planner (same as above but you hold the left and right arrows instead of the back up button)

Cheers Kelly!

No problem :) I was worried that it would delete the planner and soooooo relieved when it didnt!

UNPLUG THE POWER FROM THE SKY DIGIBOX

HOLD DOWN AND KEEP HOLDING DOWN THE BACKUP BUTTON ON THE DIGIBOX

PLUG THE POWER BACK ONTO THE SKY DIGIBOX

HOLD DOWN THE BACKUP BUTTON UNTIL YOU SEE THE BACKUP SOFTWARE MESSAGE

DO NOT TOUCH OR CHANGE ANYTHING UNTIL IT HAS FINISHED

This solves alot of problems on Sky Digiboxes, the backround whine being the most popular.

If that doesn't work, then it's still under warranty, call Sky and nag em.

I mentioned that above, as did jayhab. When we did it, we didnt get the message though - tried again, still didnt get the message but it worked anyway and havent had a problem since.

So if you dont get the message it doesnt matter

this background whine you mention, is this a sky box fault because our tv in the living room has a tempramental whine, comes and goes, and its unbareable to those ppl that have good hearing
