After the last round of Virgin price hike, I decided enough was enough and left,
I ended up going with the sky deal:

Sky Q 1TB box
Box Sets + 80 channels
talk line rental
talk anytime extra
Sky Fibre Max
Sky Q Hub
£26 per month

When my sky broadband router came and all I saw on the back was a phone cable port, I immediately started to panic and regretting my decision. What sort of internet had I just bought!

Anyway my sky was connecting 10 minuets ago and I did my first speed test, IM pleasantly surprised at how fast it is. I would definitely recommend anyone who has never changed to take the leap of faith.

same boat but im getting 10 meg download but everything ive tried just works. nowtv, plex, Netflix, no buffer, works pretty much straight away. so yeah, abit weird going from 70meg speed to 10 but it works and that's all that matters.

it's a really stable connection too. the line is straight http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n190/skunk_monkey/Mobile%20Uploads/Screenshot_2016-10-07-11-59-03_zps5l5elouc.png

Good deal.

Latency is more influenced on peering and routing from sky's network to where the game servers are located. You can have an ADSL package and achieve roughly the same latency.

As much as I hate the price of Virgin. I get great results for gaming.

Do all the other services work ok in HD?

I took the same deal as OP but with the standard broadband as I can't get fibre but damn it's pretty good for ADSL!

but skys upload is higher. virgins download is amazing, but how come they allocate so little to uploading? do they have to pay more bandwidth to upload or something?

I have no idea why they don't improve it but I guess it is a cost issue. It would annoy me if I uploaded a lot but that speed is fine for everything else. For those heavy torrenters might be an issue.

£15 for sky 40mb fibre including line rental saving me £300 a year on what vm wanted, never thought i would leave vm but so glad i did.

I just quit Virgin as they wanted £40+ just for broadband, I haggled them down to £22 but mse did a sky adsl deal that works out £5.33 after cashback etc... including line rental. The theory was if adsl was crap I could upgrade for about £10 more but I'm more than happy on adsl. I get 17mbps down and 1.2 up. Considering netflix and youtube at 1080p need about 4mbps its plenty, I have tried it with 3 at the same time and no problems. Cable and fibre are very much oversold for the average user in my opinion, although it does depend on your area.

You just echo what a lot of us on here were worried about, leaving VM because of price but worried about the ADSL... so glad I switched too, I was on 70mb but the sky connection seems more stable to me and also get around 20mb! it's awesome.
