Sky cancellation thread

Hi People,

There was a thread for people who took advatnage of the Sky 12 months half price offer with free fitting etc

Recently, there was a thread for those who were about to cancel them? does anyone know where that is? I have been trying to find it?

Did anyone get a good deal?

I called last night to cancel and they gave me 1/2 price for 6 months.

I called a few days ago and said o was going to cancel in favour of the HD box from by vision. They first offered me the HD box £15 installation with HD pack free for six months. I said no and that I would be contacting BT and once I had done this would phone back to cancel. They then offered the HD box free without the HD pack free and no installation fee as long as I committed to sky for the next 12 months.

I called them up and they have offered me 6 months half price rental but I will only get the free HD channels not the others, the others are £10 a month!

i rang up and tried to cancel and was offered 50% discount for 6 months or 25% discount for 12 months, you can swap and change the 25% package though, where as if you have the 50% discount you can't change any aspect of the package or you lose the discount

Have they offered all the HD packs within that price pal? They were telling me I would have to pay £10 extra for the other HD channels?

just cant get anywere with sky today

rang on three seperate occasions with my mum (its her account)

she is disabled and her sky (standard box) in her bedroom is invaluable to her i originally phoned up to ask for a replacement standard box in her bedroom as she kept getting error messages (solved by resetting but not something she can do easily) they werent interested only in flogging me/her a hd subscription

considering she has her broadband and phone with them as well and pays an average of 50 per month i found it pretty disguisting they wont help with a simple request

any ideas about how best to tackle this?

Im guessing Sky are probably trying to sell you a HD subscription, which means you then get a new HD box to replace your broken standard box.
Unless your mum is big fan of the sky channels, Id suggest you look into getting freeview instead, or possibly BT Vision which includes tv, broadband and phone for around £17.99pm
Once you tell Sky your leaving them, they may try and do more to help you fix your current setup problems.

yes they are trying to flog a had package (pointless as here tele isnt hd ready)

will ring again when im round there in a bit and ring the cancellations number direct

just stop direct to cancellations

agreed to bring a replacement hd box free of charge and move the existing sky box to bedroom for my mum

no discount on sub which was annoying but tried my best!

Call today, asked to cancel, and they did with out asking why... anyway after that I checked on my account and they did cancel, after 20 minutes called again and said I did cancel but I like to know if they have any offer for me to stay and the lady told me yes we have 6 months £25 , Job done ! Back to sky...
