Sky are aligning your subscribed channels to the HD which means you are going to lose some HD channels from your HD mix if you do not have the equivalent sky variety pack etc

Dear Mr xxxxxx

Making your Sky even better

At Sky, we're always looking to bring you the best choice, value and service. Over the past year, we've launched 9 new HD channels including E4 HD and Sky News HD, taking the full HD line-up to over 40 channels. The number of HD channels we offer keeps growing and growing and by Christmas you could access up to 50 HD channels, which is the UK's widest range of HD channels, offering an unrivalled choice of amazing programmes in high definition.

This autumn, there will be a new way to watch television - Sky 3D. And the great news is Sky World HD customers* will be able to watch it through their existing Sky+HD box with a 3D ready TV, and enjoy great sports, movies and entertainment in amazing 3D. To find out more, visit sky.com/3D

Important changes to your HD service
We also wanted to let you know that on or around the 5th October 2010, we are changing the way we offer our HD channels by aligning them to your Sky TV subscription. For example, to enjoy great HD dramas on Sky1 HD, you would need to have the Variety Pack which includes Sky1; and you'll need the Knowledge Pack to watch those beautiful HD documentaries on National Geographic HD and Discovery HD. Whilst you are within your minimum contract term, you can keep the additional HD channels which you currently have access to if youcontact us.

We hope that everything is clear and that you carry on enjoying all the great programmes and services you get with Sky. If you have any queries, please contact us on 08442 41 41 41.

Kind regards,

The Sky Team

hardly making it better we pay too much as it is aswell

Make sure you contact them as this change in t&c is significant enough to leave without penalty which is why they slyly have if you don't contact them then it's like you agree and therefore legal on their behalf .

Contact them about it and as long as you are within your minimum term you can keep what you originally agreed to in contract.

makes sense to me

Wish we would get Living HD like Virgin do, don't understand why Sky don't do it.

typical!

I subscribed to Sky HD last month (extra £10 month). I currently have Sky TV Variety Pack + HD Pack.

Does anyone know what channels I will lose with this change?

It's unclear if they will drop the £10 charge for hd mix at this point. Which might make it better for some users. I pay £31 at present for

makes sense to me

Good for you. maybe

It's not what anyone in last 12 months signed up for though. We pay the £10 to get the HD channels if they take off £10 then maybe fair enough but it's still not what we signed a contract based on. Or rather what our contract with sky is at sign up time and it's a big enough change to leave under breach of contract*.

this board software stinks

Would i be able to use this as a get out clause then to end the 12 month contract early?

We pay the extra for HD but as we don't have the full package i don't think it'll be worth it.

same situation here! anyone?

^ I dunno . As the inclusion of Whilst you are within your minimum contract term, you can keep the additional HD channels which you currently have access to if you contact us.

might be the thing that stops you doing that as they are clearly giving you the opportunity if you phone them to avoid the thing that would give you a breach of contract on Sly's behalf

According to who I just spoke to .. Took nearly an hour to get sorted on 0844 number to India :lol

It's fixed on my account as my contract runs till Feb 2011 ... The other packs have been added that would be taken away if you do not phone up. They are not dropping the £10 SKY HD MIX charge they are just taking most / some of the HD channels away from that pack. might be 2 or 10 channels or even more.

P.s I know it was not India

someone mentioned in another thread about a £3 price rise in October aswel:|

I called them up when I received the letter and it was confirmed to me that I could continue receiving the HD channels.

However, some of the HD channels switched off on the 5th October and I've been on the phone for the last 20 minutes and they're telling me I would have to pay to get them back.
