you can use a audio video sender to send the sky feed from main box to another room

i tried but it was really fuzzy and crackles just want my own box really

Buy another receiver, I find Car Boot Sales are cheapest.

You will only get the " free " channels without a Sky Subscription.

you can just get hold of another box and ask sky to activate it as you already pay for a multiroom subscription they should just do it for you. (of course you will need to install yourself :P
another option is to get an Xbox 360 and use the iplayer functionality which will give you full access to sky services (as you already pay for them)

You need a sky lnb converter or something so you can plug two boxes into one dish

The Sky Dish will 99% certain have a quad LNB fitted, just another cable from dish to receiver required.

As in post Number 7, just another cable from the dish/LNB to the Sky receiver.

Do you know the name of this cable and how much it will cost?

It is called Satellite Cable, about a fiver, have a look on ebay, you need a length long enough and 2 x " F " connectors to connect.

Many on eBay are already made up lengths and ready to fit.

Can someone just confirm - we have a cable running into my daughters bedroom direct from the dish and we were planning on getting a freesat box for it but can we plug our old sky box in and get the free channels ?

Yes of course you can.

If the Sky Receiver hasn't been used for a while it may need a software update to function fully, either just leave it connected and plugged in and it will sort itself, or you can do a forced software update, look on Google for instructions.

Hi guys thanks for all the help!

Just another query, I got the sky dish about 2 years ago i think :\ so should it have a quad lnb?

I picked up a 25M Satelite Cable with F connectors today from maplins should this do the trick and also what do i have to do now? Is it as simple as just plugging in the cable to satelite and box or is there other work involved?

Also is it illegal to do, and do i have to ask for skys permission? :)

Thanks
