Sky HD box not allowing me to record

In the last 2 nights for some reason my sky box won't let me record; I.e. i press the record button but the symbol doesn't appear, nor does it get added to my planner.

Google just seems to throw up problems with recordings after it has recorded something, mine won't let me get that far.

Anybody encountered this before?

Give sky a ring

Just unplug the box for 5 minutes, then plug back in and try again. No doubt that's what Sky will tell you to do anyway (_;)

there is a menu called "Housekeeping" you will loose all you recording i think but it usually sorts the stop recording issue.

Old EPG :-

Services

Select

Then you will see the installer's menu. Housekeeping (Planner Rebuild) is similar to a de-frag and is harmless. Full System Reset will DELETE ALL OF YOUR RECORDINGS - you have been warned.

New EPG :-

And you will be asked to confirm that you wish to do a Planner Rebuild.

I very well may do, but do I need a massive motorised dish?

Depends what you want! Sky just needs a feed from your current dish.

Well my subscription runs out in Oct and am planning on cancelling, at the moment thinking of getting a humax foxsat for circa 220 quid. What benefit would a dreambox have over it?

Have followed instructions on doing a planner rebuild as I was also having issues deleting things. The sky website assures me it won't delete anything

As above, Services 0 0 1 Select if you have the new darwin software on your HD box. The planner rebuild should not delete anything.

I have just done it prior to trying to replacing the noisy Hard Drive in ours but then discovered that I couldn't copy the recordings using Copy+ because of the darwin software.

I think the darwin upgrade is down to the Anytime + that is being rolled out.

Can you play back any of the previously recorded programmes? If not it could be a hard drive issue.. Hard drive failures on the Sky+ boxes sometimes meant the box was stuck in standby.

Dreambox, good choice. Thats my next purchase after only just buying a Spiderbox HD9000

The rebuild has appeared to fix it, and left my recordings.

Thanks all

I tried both suggestions but I still can't record or pause. Dunno if it's because it's the small box in our bedroom. It's a new box
