Guys,

I'm getting Sky HD installed tomorrow (already have normal sky which has been installed since 2000) I want the cable rerouted though the outside of my house as it currently goes through the loft. Do you think they will do this if i ask? or as im an existing customer do they expect to use the same cable?

I know they have to replace the dish but never asked about the cable.

If you remove it, they wont have a choice!

BTW - what makes you think they have to replace the dish? I'd bet they dont.

And thats exactly what they will do. Put a new LNB on it.

Now you have said you dont have sky+ and a quad LNB, this means they WILL replace the cable.

oh brilliant.

Thanks for your help, rep left.

one more question, whats the difference in cable? is it thicker or anything?

Since engineers use the twin feed coax now, they'll more than likely just reroute the new cable the easiest way they can and ignore the one which is already there.

The cable is duel core and often called "shotgun". (ie double barrel.) It is thicker, so they are likely to need to drill a new hole or just expand the existing. (Assuming the current hole is just big enough for a single cable.)

9 years of Sky without so much of a whisper to them.

so when i called to cancel they offered me Sky HD with nothing more on the monthly amount i pay (£19.56 i think with no sports or movies) with just a £30 install free....managed to haggle and get the install for free. so very happy.

Hmmm. I might give that a go. June is the best month to try it on with sky..... accounts being published shortly. They dont like publishing that people are leaving!

What ploy did you use? Just say you were cancelling, or say you were getting freesat HD because paying for toot isnt value for money?

Exactly that, said i was going for Freesat HD because i wanted the BBC HD channel (which was true) and our sky was so old the signal was getting worse and worse, so just had enough.

just push and push, they will wont want to let you go, i would be interested to see what deal you get :)
