My 12 month 1/2 price sky HD sub ended last week. I was offered a further 6 months half price, but they wanted a tenner a month for HD (which was currently completely free), so I declined....

On the day it was gonna be cut, I had another call, this time offering the full 12 months. I asked if I could take that as a multi room and was told they'd call back last Friday. They didn't........

Cut a long story short.... I emailed their executive complaints department. After a bit of BS from the guy, he tried to give me an extra HD box (which I don't need as we already have three of them connected to the dish!)

He was trying to tell me if I take this, I won't have to pay an extra HD sub for the second box......

So easy question......... If you have HD on multi room - do you pay an extra tenner per month for each box, then a further £10pm on top of that for HD on each box?

Ie 2 rooms is £30 and 3 rooms is £50 Extra on top of your sub each month?

I'm thinking he's giving me some bull here....... So anyone with HD in more than two rooms on a normal sub can oblige with the info I'd be grateful.

PS dog_cop need not apply.

thought it was all pretty standard stuff, for multiroom it's an extra £10 per box with HD an extra £10 per month on top.
so and extra £20 per month for HD and Multiroom

That's what I thought. It sounded complete bull when he said it, but as I was just leaving work, I didn't have the time to check when I was speaking. He did say something about things changing on 1st September, so whether he meant that's the charges from then, I don't know. I did request he replied with the details in an email.... So far he hasnt! I can't imagine anyone paying £30 per month more just because you have an HD box in another room!

been rumours about Sky scrapping HD charges for at least a year now, but only changes that will probably happen is another price increase.

Well that's what he was saying! What a joke...... Replicate the channels you've already paid for, including paying the premium for HD @ £20 a pop per multi!

No wonder why card sharing is a cheaper option!

Looking on their website, it says prices are changing from 1 September (in line with what he'd said) but no details showing. Maybe one of them was the "only" one HD premium subscription to pay no matter how many boxes!

Hopefully someone who has it already knows the correct details.

True, I really should have the snip, but I'd rather not. (it's free anyway Brah)

i was told by a sky retentions advisor a few months ago that they would soon be scrapping the HD charge. as you can get HD for free from freeview etc they're reaching the point where they won't be aqble to justify the extra charge. if you ask me they've never been able to justify the extra charge lol

I will be finding out later or tomorrow, we will be putting another hd + box upstairs instead of our standard box, so we will have to ring to pair the cards up, we already have hd and a multi room package, so will see if we get charged more and let you know
#13
thought you just steal all your HD channels anyway with that big satellite? lol

I do..... But I'm not a real gansta! X)

To be fair, the extra card would be used for erm, other purposes!

To be fair, I pretty much only ever watched the HD channels. I'd rather it be free (like it has been for me for the last 12 months.)

Okie dokie, everything is all up and working we have hd channels downstairs and upstairs and we were assured by the sky adviser when we rang to pair the card to the box that because we already have the hd package on our subscription and already pay multi room there will be no extra charge per month.

Interesting. So the guy was lying then!

I got his email he promised, but he conveniently missed the detail.

tbh when we moved recently we spoke to 5/6 different people about moving the broadband and phone line and we were told at least 3 different timescales, think it pretty much depends on who you speak to as to what you get told, but have just checked my online bill and nothing has changed

I've wanted to get HD muliroom but the extra charges always put me off. I understood that HD put a strain on bandwidth and perhaps had costs initially but charging an extra £10 per multi for clicking a few keys on a keyboard was taking the pee.

Hey DonkeyLady......... I just rang them (so I got my facts 100% before going into battle!)

The guy I spoke to confirmed you get charged an additional £10.25 for HD on EACH HD box, PLUS an additional £10.25 for each box after the first.

I mentioned you and he said "might not have been charged extra yet, but you will be"! (unless you got some special deal you're keeping quite about! And he wasn't aware of any changes to those charges, but did confirm that all sky subs were increasing by a quid from 1 September.

No special deal, husband asked and confirmed that there is absolutely no extra charge for the extra hd pack, the chap he spoke to said because we have hd already there isn't an extra charge, I was in the room with him so its not another 99p / £9.99 saga, my bill is still saying exactly the same, when I upgraded to multiroom it was changed online straightaway
Sky+HD Pack 04/07/11 - 03/08/11 £10.25
Sky+ Subscription 04/07/11 - 03/08/11 £0.00
Extra Subscription 04/07/11 - 03/08/11 £10.25
4 Pack with Movies Pack 04/07/11 - 03/08/11 £38.50
Subtotal: £59.00

the extra sub is for my existing multi room

lol..... I hope that lengthy reply was 'cos you thought I'd suggest you were 99p'ing! X)

If you get away with it, you've got lucky. That said, I think it will be a case of no extra charge from 1 sept.

Ok, I just had a call back again.....

Will be getting in writing that the 12 months half price offered is not a commitment. (ie I can cancel at any time)

Looking online, currently you definitely should have a £10.25 additional charge for each multi room box taking hd..... So you have got lucky donkeylady.

However, the extra hd charge for multiroom is being dropped. (ie a multiroom box will cost £10.25 not £20.50 - which is an absolute ******* liberty!

They are making other changes from 1st September too.

Currently there are 6 entertainment packages. The package with sky one is compulsory if you take a sub. You can then choose 1 or more (up to 5) at £1 each. From 1st September that's scrapped. There will only be two packages. The basic @£20 which consists of the sky one group, the daft living type channels and music. The rest is in another bundle titled entertainment plus and is a further £5.

There is a maximum £1 price increase guarantee.

Guvs top tip.....

Downgrade your current package to include the sky one package and say the documentary package. This will currently cost you £20.50

At the changeover on September 1st, you have to have both of these new packages..... And they can only increase it to £21.50 as per their price pledge.

???? Profit.

Lol I threw that one at him as a curve ball when he called back.

He's gonna clarify a bit further lol.
