Hi

Ive just bought a new sky hd box. I dont currently subscribe to sky and would be using this for the free hd channels in the bedroom mainly for the footy. Howerve when i set it all up and turned it on it says no satelite signal being received i reset the old box up and that was fine so re done the hd again and it still says no satelite signal being received

Im just wondering if i have to do anything to make my card work in the sky hd box. or if theres anything else i need to d

Thanx in advance

P.s yes i have cnnected all cables and satelite cable ll

You (well, SKY) need to pair the card with the new box..
It can only be paird with one box.

also if you only had normal sky before (and not Sky+) you will only have 1 LNB instaed of the two that skyHD (and Sky+) require, therefore the box will be looking for a signal from the second LNB which is not there (i.e No signal)

It would still find the signal from the first cable though. It doesn't have to have both cables connected (but obviously it'd be silly not to use the second tuner)

Swap them over and see what happens.

It's there so that you can record one channel and watch another.. or record two different channels at the same time as well as watching a third (pre-recorded program).

I believe the card does need to be paired to watch any channel.

If you are only using one cable, then it needs to be connected to the "first one". The second tuner only kicks in when you start recording something.

it is connected to the first one now. signal strength is about 75% so it should pick up the channels got to be something to do with the card

It is the card, i've been saying that since post 1 !!

You can buy one-off cards for use with it, which don't need a monthly subscription. They're around £20 I think.

As already said above, you'll need to get the card paired with the box. You should get free to air channels without the card being paired, but will need it pairing for free to view channels

Also, unless you take out a subscription package you won't be able to use the PVR functions of the box (unless you pay £10 p.m for Sky+).
