Hi, got Sky HD booked for Monday with an independant dealer, as Sky were telling me I'd be waiting between 1-3 months,

On their website it states that they are an authorised Sky independant dealer, however if I have a problem with the box, which I have read many people have, will I be covered by a Sky warrenty or will the warrenty be with the dealer who installed the box?
Hope this makes sense!
Thanks in advance for any replies
Alex

If the box was delivered and installed by the dealer I expect it legally falls on them, if they say it's Sky, you can mention you've had no direct communication with Sky passively or actively.

I would check all your correspondence either way though.

The provider/retailer is where the onus lies I believe.

I have to ask, why would any use a Sky "dealer" instead of going to Sky direct and using quidco etc???

-Don't use quidco
-Don't want to wait 3 months if I can get the same deal price wise elsewhere whilst only waiting 3 days

Here's the website:

Are you already a Sky customer?

We had Sky HD installed in December and only had to wait 8 days and there was a 3 month wait then apparently! It might be worth giving Sky a call to find out how long it would take to get Sky HD installed in your area. We had a local company come to install Sky and received a 'Brand New' Box and not a refurb. We were given a number of dates for installation also. It may be worth a punt!

Yes, upgrading from Sky +

I phoned Sky today, woman again said I would just be put on the waiting list, and between 1-3 months depending on the region I live in!

Asking about warrenty, she didn't know, but didn't advise me against using an independant, so still none the wiser!
