Been offered sky+ hd off sky as a retention for nothing (new 12 month contract) and the £10 HD fee. I got sky+ at present and a full HD tv. I'm a full subscriber movies and sports. But not sure if the £10 is worth it, I ain't over fussed about HD and not sure if I'm bothered about paying £10 for no real extra content. On the other hand I could do with the extra storage space on the HD box, and I'm not convinced my sky+ will live much longer (freezes often, jitters in playback). Anyone offer some decent advice?

I need to look at getting a different dish, I got someone out to look a couple of months ago but next door have a stupid tree making an install very difficult (apparentley)

Yeh.... Buy a Dreambox! :w00t:

Whilst I watch pretty much everything now in HD ('cos I can), I really don think its worth an extra £10pm.

Just get a new Sky+ out of them (if you really want to get stuck with another 12 month contract) or wait until it does go kaput!

PS.... did you manage to get to the PO?
#4
Yes its worth it if you get all the channels , if you get it you will need to put a bigger HD in as HD recording takes up so much space, a film takes up about 9%

I have one and got a 640gb drive in mine now, i dont subscribe to HD as my contract is up and i dont have the full package so not worth it, just get the free channels which is enough for me, C4, BBC, Luxe and ITV HD

Yeah posted yesterday PM. Winds me up paying sky all the cash I do a month

Yes.............Nat Geo HD and Discovery HD are worth the money alone. They also show different programs so you get some extra content.

Also the football is a lot better as i've noticed in SD the grass on bigger screen HDTV's looks a bit odd. :)

Cheers matey. Let me know the postal cost...

There is an alternative to a motorised dish.

Just use the one you have and put up another one elsewhere not in the line of site, for 13 and 19E. That will pull in a huge amount of whats available.

I never watch them channels, I watch stuff about the SAS, Wars and Pirates (the y'argh type) etc on those channles before the kids channels. Never watched Nat Geo
I was debating off loading the movies as you get them from other places easily. It's the £10 a month thats putting me off big time.

Your gonna have to help me sort out an alternative. I know we have been through it before like. Wait until you get the stuff then remind me of the postage cost for the telco stuff

I agree movies are a waste of time and money is better spent elsewhere. I must admit to being an avid viewer of Nat Geo. My mind is now full of useless info that will never be needed unless i go on eggheads

I don't think i could go back to Sky Sports SD now though as the footy really does look a lot better. Pop into a Currys or something and look at one of the demo's to see what you think. :)

I can certainly advise on what to buy and configuring etc, but the positioning part, I'm a bit stuck! And hey, Ive just had to put up a new dish 'cos the old one has been blocked by a conker tree that wasnt there 15 years ago!

Speak to Souljacker and ChrisUK about the snide DM800 if its deffo HD you want!

I'm not sure if I want HD if they hadn't of offered it for free I wouldn't of considered it. Will do, think I'll get xmas out the way before any outlay

No worries. You would basically be looking at about £90 more for HD going the snide route.

I hope not..........we need the points. I'm hoping Geogie Boyd is on fire but i get the feeling we may get a bit of a lesson after bragging so much about the Carling Cup win.

Gonna go watch a demo before making a decision. TBH it's only football, wwe, things about fatties that the wife likes to watch and the kids channels. So not sure whether the extra sub is worth it

I've watched it since 1989 when my dad first got sky, 16 channels on an Alba box, used to be on eurosport back then with the PPV's on sky movies.
#25
as far as Im concerned no, the OH would beg to differ........but like Sy he watches a lot of Nat Geo, footy, etc
#26
Might see If I can get a new sky+ instead of the HD as I'm not convnced I'm bothered about it. An extra £120 a year for something I'm not convinced I would use.

Deadliest Catch is flavour of the month at the moment! All I hear is " FFS did you see the size of that wave?!!!!"

tbh i only watch it out of habit now, nowhere near as good as it used to be, perhaps i preferred it when i thought it was real!!

Aye, I was gutted when I found out it wasn't real. When I do watch greased up men in spandex it tends to be on Bravo for TNA now instead
#34
DM800 around £170, plus small montly sub = 100 HD channels all "free"

I remember my dad used to take the mick out of me for watching it, he watched Austin/Hart at WM 13 and told me that Austin used a blood pack, even though you could see it pumping out. I believed him though!!

Can't seem to get into TNA. load of ex WWE guys

Yes, but its no sky+.

You can set the timer with the EPG, but the guide itself isnt all that and it only has one tuner, meaning you cant record one channel and watch another. You can record and watch a recording though.
