Dont want internet for either just tv

Its for me alone over summer and in September plan to share with 3 other tenants.

So looking for maybe 2 rooms with it.

Currently a tenant that is moving out has Virgin in their room which is next to living room, so maybe that can be used.

No movie channels are planned to be bought, I like Sky 1 etc, Paramount, ABC1 Bravo, all the kids channels, and a few more I cant remember.

Dont really need SKY+ as I own a dvd recorder with hard drive

I know. I was merely rendering your argument useless. Ryouga, the little gem he is, asked whether to choose Virgin or Sky. Because Sky1 was on his list, I took the assumption that he was not bothered if the channel mix was not exact to those specified. Hence my suggestion of Freeview.

i have sky... ive seen ads for the programs they show on virgin and it looks poor, imo, they have peter jones' rip off of dragons den american style and re runs of star trek ... not my thing.. wouldnt say sky1 is amazing but i do like the fact they have Lost and 24! make sure the package u go for offers any series u follow? good luck

He didn't say he didn't want Sky, he just said he didn't need Sky+. In that case, I suggested standard Sky at £21 a month, all the channels except sport and movies.

No, you have confused yourself now. Your argument against my comment was the fact that Freeview did not have Sky1. You can suggest anything you like - I did not even read that.

i am not confused. They said they like sky 1 and you suggested Freeview, that doesn't have sky 1.
Also the poster said he didn't need a sky+ box so I said standard sky is fine

Virgin are rubbish!

Go for Sky its much better and I also found that Sky has better picture quality

They clearly said they like Sky 1, Paramount and Bravo. Presumably, they want something from Sky 1 like Lost or 24. That is not on Freeview nor Virgin.
You can't assume that everyone knows Virgin does not have Sky 1 because they did used to have it.

I shall not repeat myself. Ok, I will. Does Virgin have Sky1?

As I have said, my argument is not against your suggestion. Your argument is against mine.

Dont like Lost or 24 at all, I just like stuff like Simpsons, the kids stuff in mornings, old American stuff like Star Trek and Buffy etc and some stuff thats on sky3

in that case it has to be sky for those type of programmes.

my argument is against your suggestion because freeview has none of those channels and they won't have the programmes the poster wanted.

lots of simpsons, buffy and star trek on sky, that has to be your only choice, but you could get away with 3-4 mixes which is a lot cheaper.

if you do go for sky remember to sign up for quidco first and get some good cashback:thumbsup:
#24
+ you get virgen 1 on sky tv ;-) (channel 122 i belive) so u might as well get sky
#25
to use sky you will also have to pay for a phone line, if ypu use virgin broadband you dont need aq phone line

Customer service wise : both expensive and both sh*te, which just about sums up the uk internet market

sky more channels!!!!!

Looks like you only want it for a few months. Be careful because you will most likely need to sign a contract for 1 year with either Sky or Virgin. You can move during the term of the contract but they'll make you take it with you (and charge you for moving the equipment) or make you pay for the rest of the time left on the contract.

Check this out before you decide anything!

Re-read it after my post, was having a very dyslexic moment!

I said over summer due to the 4 months £75 package that is sold in shops with no contract unless you want more channels.

And I wasnt sure over Virgin or Sky due to wanting at least 2 boxes in the house and I think sky charge £50 per extra box plus £30 connection
