this, you need to get a card synchronised to the box....I'm guessing, not done as I'm rich and pay a subscription...nah I'm joking I have no kids, that's why I'm rich

sorry if it's sky plus you need TWO feeds going into it, apparently one feed will bring up this message

you can get a splitter for the one cable, not seen it suggested but I would certainly try it

sky plus usually has 2 feeds coming from the dish to the box so you can record one channel and watch another, or record 2 channels and watch a pre recorded program

Sorry that will not work, you cannot use a splitter with satellite feeds, they need to be independent.

NTL is/was a cable system, totally different to satellite.

Indeed, you could possibly do some damage using them.

You need to subscribe to Sky for the recording part of Sky+ to work, a minimum of £10 per month.

Inactive is correct, tell us exactly what message are you getting on the screen...
you only need one cable in a Sky+ if you don't use recording features...
Press services,4,6 and see if either of the inputs are getting a signal

Plus a normal Sky card wont work in there as you arent paying any subscription to recieve channells

The best option is hook up your equipment and buy a freesat card from Sky - click here -

Costs about £20 and will turn your Sky box into a freeview box.

Hope that helps

Strictly speaking it will not turn it in to a " Freeview " Receiver.

Freeview is only available via an aerial and has a different channel line up to Sky.;-)

Okay... if you want to get technical - lol

For a one off £20 payment for the card you get x 4 the amount of channels you'd get on freeview...

Q: What's the difference between Freeview and Freesat from Sky?
A: With Freesat from Sky you receive the digital signal via a satellite dish to a set-top box, unlike Freeview, which you receive via an aeriel to a set top box or a TV with an in-built tuner. For you, this means better coverage (Freesat from Sky’s coverage is 98% compared to Freeview’s 73%).

Not only this, but with Freesat from Sky you’ll also have access to over four times the number of channels available on Freeview.

True, ;-)but more is not always better, I prefer Freeview.
