Sky Question

I read on here a few days ago, that if you ring Sky and tell them you want to go to Virgin, they give you a good deal?

Basically i have Sky+ upstairs and a basic box downstairs, i rang Sky a few months back told them i was going to Virgin and they never offered me anything (i did go to Virgin but cancelled it as i never got on with it)

Basically what i want is a free Sky+ downstairs as well, and the £10 monthly charge waived.

What are my chances?

sky+ monthly charge is waived for everyone now. I ended up buying a SH sky+ box from ebay. You could always ring and see what they will offer you or how much to upgrade your basic box. some people have been quoted £49 for a refurbed box.

There are never any guarantees with sky+ being offered - unless its part of an official promotion!

Not really sure what you are after - or if you are still a customer? New customers normally get the good deals, though if you are lucky, they do occasionaly do so for existing! There is no charge for skly+ recording and EPG anymore - but you would still have to pay £10 for muti-room on top of your subscription package.

June seems to be the best time to get something from sky!!! SO not long to go!

That is an option, yes. They will pair the card to the box. However, sky+ will need to be fed by 2 inputs - so unless you already have this, this will be needed to be able to record one channel and watch another. With this in mind and the fact you get a 12 month warrenty, i wouldnt buy from ebay! The most you should expect to pay from sky is £49 and that includes the install. (But they wont just offer it! - You have to work on it!!!!) Id be tempted to call them at the end of the month and say that Virgin have now offered you 2 V Boxes free, which is a big swing for you. If they can match this (ie a free sky+ and install, you will stay. Its possible they will do this - but probably you will be offered it for £49. You will need to be through to the cancellation department though Normal CS will tell you you have to pay. So just say no thanks to them and you will get transfered to retentions.)

Good luck!

Phoned sky this morning and told them that Virgin have offered 2 V+ boxes for the price of one which is more convenient for ourselves, without hesitation they cancelled :w00t: now i have to leave it a couple of days and tell them i dont wish to cancel

How long is the notice period before the cut you off before you cancel?

The reason I ask is because sometime a go I cancelled my 02 contract with 30 days remaining, they never offered me anything worth staying for. I called up two days before it was set to cancel to say to convert it to a PAYG sim, the girl ask why so I told her that orange did the same deal and was going with them. She instantly offered me double the mins and text. I decided to stay.

I guess it dont always work this way but if you hand on say 25 days or so they might offer you a better deal with only a short period remaining before you go.

Just an idea
