Engineer came at my place to install satellite service today (Pay once, watch Forever) at £75. I've got a few questions.
(a) After the 4 month period is over and the sky subscription is cancelled, other than the freeview channels what other satelite channels are you left with?
(b) What four packages are installed by default
(c) Sadly, couldn't get the guy to install a dual LNB on the antenna but I did notice that the cable that he pulled through the wall has two strands, one of which is not connected. Does that mean in effect that it is a dual LNB by default?

(a ) Pull your card out, that will let you know which channels you will get after termination, additionally you will get Sky 3 and Channel 5's.

(b) No idea.

( c) Sounds like he has run a twin in one cable. It may be a single or a quad LNB, Sky don't fit twins any more.

You need to look at the LNB to see how many outlets there are.

it is a con and you will be billed every month afterwards
unless you explicitly ask them to cancel
you will be left with all freeto air channels

You don't get Five or any of the free channels when you pull out the card. Maybe you should leave it in after cancelling the four month contract. It looks as if the TWO cables are connected to the LNB, does that mean that I could eventually get both cables to be connected to 2 separate devices? Or shall I just get a LNB switch? http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page1b.htm#multiswitches

You dont need a switch...............if you have a quad lnb fitted.....two or a twin cable runs to your digibox, ready for sky plus.................and you can connect your own cable to the third or fourth lnb connection and run your cable anywhere you want to.........................

The mini dish has a single LNB it seems but the cable that runs into my house is forked, i.e. it has two strands. One goes into the Skybox while the other is still untouched. Assuming that I do not change the LNB, what are my options then?

I think I might know why there are two cables...

"A Sky Plus box has two dish inputs so without connecting to both of these you will not be able to record one side whilst watching another, thus losing the most beneficial feature of the box."

Just in case you want to upgrade to Sky Plus

Replace the single lnb with a quad,it is quite easy to do,available on ebay for around £7 if you are patient................and then run 3 more cables anywhere................you can even buy a Freesat box.........but digiboxes are so cheap i would stick to digiboxes.......................

If you have a twin cable, you just need a quad LNB in place of your single LNB, connect it up.

You do get some free channels without a card inserted, you don't get Ch5's or Sky 3 tho', you will need your card in to get them, even after you have cancelled.
