Sky signing up query

I am signing upto sky with the discount, getting TV, Broadband and therefore the required phone line.

So I am moving in on the 7th but have access to the property before and Need sky to fit the TV and the Phoneline.

Trying to do it on-line it wont let me book the phone line until 2 weeks after the TV is setup so I am wondering is there a way to get the TV setup sometime around the 23rd june and then the account frozen for 2 weeks until the phoneline is set-up as well and then make them both active at the same time and adding the broadband to the account at the same time?

Hope that makes sense, Thanks for any help

Ben

can't you just have the install date for sky on or after 23rd June?

You can get away with not providing a landline number at the time of signing up online.

No there is no way of doing that. Your tv will be installed, then they will give you an estimated install date for your phoneline when they will send another engineer. If you have given them a mobile number they will text you the number that you need to call to sort out the broadband - you call them and they sort out another date and send you your router etc. Its a long drawn out process but theres no way of stopping it.
Please not that you will have to call to get your sky talk sorted and then again for your broadband its its highly likely that the person you speak to will not know the offer you have signed up for!
Example -
My sky+ HD was installed on the 25th may, then i had to phone to get the phone line sorted.
Engineer called (from bt openreach on behalf of sky) on the 11th of june and phone was sorted (note that a payment has already left for that months tv)
Second call to number texted to me by sky to setup broadband, lady didnt know what package i was on.
Estimated install date for broadband is 21st June.
Thats the way sky works im afraid!

Not sure where your getting this from but he must have the top skytalk package, the unlimited broadband, all the optional tv packs and the HD pack.

They dont actually put there prices up without telling you, the make it quite clear when you take the package out that its X amount for the first 6/12 months rising to Y afterwards.

Example, i have skytalk with evening and weekends, 10meg broadband with unlimited downloads, sky+ (FTA HD not paying for the sub!) and sky sports. £27 per month rising to £37 after 12 months. Thats perfectly clear to me!!

so there is no way to freeze the account? I either get sky fitted now and in a months time i have broadband or I get sky fitted when i move in and a month after i get broadband... this is all so stoopid

Yep, they are your options im afraid. I tried arguing the "visit" they had to do for the phone. I told them i live in a brand new apartment which is only a few weeks old (i actually do, not lying to them) so i know theres nothing wrong with the lines. Was told they still need to come and "check".
Il annoy you even more now by telling you that when they set up your phone line they will go to the exchange and sort that out (about a 20 min job) so your number is correctly forwarded to your address and you can make calls. Then you will have to contact them to install the broadband, guess what? their gonna have to go back to that same exchange AGAIN to set up your line for the broadband! madness or what!

Can i suggest if you are considering your options you should look into virgin media (providing they support your area with their cable service). It would be one visit, they would set up your tv, phone and broadband all in one go.

What would you be getting and paying with sky?

atm loooking at all channels (- Movies, Sport and Culture) Max Broadband and Phone (only cause I have to I use my mobile) and the HD from what i could see its cheaper?

TV £11
HD Free
Line Rental £11
Broadband (eventually) £7.50
Total £29.50

Im suprised by that because as the link says, its meant for those in the top 5% of downloading / uploading.
#24
I'm sure its more then that, they cap you after 3.5gb to 7.5gb of downloading.

I was on XL broadband and would download far far more than that and . . . . . no cap!
#26
I got capped from just xbox sometimes so maybe im unlucky and it hated me lol
#27
i find that hard to believe, they cap the download speed by 75%, and that's for everyone except people on 50mb.
