One for the Legal boffins;

Cast your minds back to a couple of years ago when ORANGE announced its increase in prices - This broke the contract that we all signed therefore the tie-in of the contract (12 -18 months) ceased to be inforced and people could cancel early

As this is a VAT increase, does this mean the the sky contracts are now void, giving us the oppurtunity to cancel early?

Notice of increase in your subscription charges

The Chancellor has announced an increase in the rate of VAT from 17.5% to 20%, effective from 4th January 2011 so the tax we need to pay to the government will increase.

To keep things simple, we have generally rounded prices up or down to the nearest 25p. The changes will be reflected in your first bill on or after 4th January 2011, which we’ll issue 14 days in advance of payment as usual. To check this bill, please log in to My Sky or press the interactive button on your remote and select Sky Active.

View the prices, which will apply from 4th January 2011.

I think he was referring to the rounding up of prices, and whether that could effect a contract

"we have generally rounded prices up or down to the nearest 25p" and he expects this to be a genuine reasonable reason to end a contract. get real
