Sky Upgrading Question

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get the Sky Movies pack for a cheaper price? There was a code on here last week that put half price on any pack for 12 months, but when I phoned I was told that it was only for people that had been a customer before, cancelled and then wished to come back to Sky.

I just got my free Sky+HD box with 12 months free Sky HD this morning so looking to make full use of the HD channels by upgrading to Movies (also to watch The Pacific).

I'm going to complain / cancel if they don't give me (free*) access to Pacific on the basis. It's a drama not a film so why the hell am I paying the HD pack fee + subs etc to fund the airing of this programme when I cannot watch it. It should be shown on SKY 1 HD.

I wish everyone else could do this instead of just accepting it.

Edit
After i posted I the searched google

Changed my mind not going to watch it until it's on play.com as box set for £9.99 or £14.99 Blu ray

Totally agree! It's just another means of getting more of our hard-earned money. Why should a series like this be on a Movie channel - I'm not fooled by Sky's feeble excuses that it was designed to be shown without ad breaks, in HD etc. Show it on Sky1 HD then. BBC managed to show 24 without any ad breaks and that's a series that was really designed for real-time (even though I know the producers worked in ad breaks to the countdown clock).

I refuse to pay extra for something I have already paid for.

best advise is just to ring them up and be nice to them. who would you be more willing to help, someone shouting at you about cancellations, or someone being friendly & chatting but would like a little help.

At the mo they were doing 20-25% off packages for 6 months if you upgrade. i have been upgrading & downgrading for the last 2 years and never pay full price.

ring them up say something like, looking to get the movies pack as you get disney cine free as well as the kids will be off school at easter but cant really afford the full amount, i was wondering if you had any special offers on at the mo to help me out ? worst they will do is say no but it has always worked for me in the past. I think at the mo espes with virgin getting better all the time they are happy to get as much money as poss out off customers and would rather get what ever extra they can from you.

+1 i agree with you aswell you give them £40+ a month and then all the best movies now go onto box office for you to pay extra for or boxing/wrestling etc now costs £15 extra if you want to watch them. when we first got sky at my parents many years ago im sure i remember the movies used to come onto sky almost the same time as the dvds got released, now you have to wait atleast 6 months while they fleece you with box office.
