The only thing I miss about sky (since going to freesat) is the remote & easy to use interface. If humax could sort that out I'd be laughing.

Ahhh, so freesat is good but dont they have limited channels?

If you go for Virgin via Quidco you can get £165cashback - ends tomorrow!

I'd love to try and get a cheaper deal, and better service, but i just love having all my programmes their and easy to ccess with sky.

With V+ you can record 2 channels and watch a third. Most HD channels free on VM, only pay additional charge for Sports and Movies. Box isn't yours to own so if it breaks a year after you got it, there's no fixing/call out costs. VM's on demand service is extensive.

Sky do have 3D channels launching, also offer on demand online and the catch up service through your box. Larger recording capacity available on Sky+. Also have Sky Anytime service.

Everyone I know is generally happy with their services and there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in service or product. Don't forget to consider Quidco or similar in your equation.

http://skyplayer.sky.com/aboutskyplayer/sky-on-demand.htmlThere is also a kind of catch up service on +boxes. Part of the hard drive is reserved for these progs and it has your general popular ones on there to watch on your TV. Always forget what it's called....
sky anytime, it's quite limited

I've had a lot of probems with sky boxes, but they give you used replacement boxes, then want to charge you £65 each time to come out and give you another used box. My brother had virgin, then just got rid of them all and downloads eveything.

i was never offered this , my box went 1 month after the 1 year warrenty ran out, they'd promised to pay to have my telephone line installed, and never did so they gave us a free box, that packed up less than a month later, they wanted to try and charge me again, and i only got another free box because i changed my line rental to them.

cancel then, they will give you a date 30 days from cancelation to collect boxes,stuff...call their bluff mate retensions will call you within a week "trust me " done it about 3 times now, seriously what have you got to lose..if they dont just call them back before the 30 days, its the only way they will take you seriously ,and as i said only speak to retensions and barter their asses off ,once you are happy with the deal ,do the 12 month contract!

With sky you have to say your going to leave and ask to be transferred to the cancelation department only when you get put through to them can you really start to barter.

there not going to cut you off straight away because they want you to change your mind, i might get that far with sky, but sadly it would take serious study of virgin channels, to make sure they have my fave programmes.
