Has anyone done a tandem skydive?

I signed up to a charity one today and wondering what it's like? I've done a 200ft bungee jump about 8 or 9 years ago, but assume it'll be nothing like that (mainly cos i'd be jumping from 10,000 ft).

Also, as this is a 'community site and self-promotion may result in a ban!'...am I ok to ask people on here to sponsor me through my just-giving page?

Its amazing mate, you won't regret it. Did one last year at Langar airfield for Help for Heroes. I was in a daze all the way to the point of shuffling to the open door of the aircraft at 13,500ft. Then I thought there's no turning back lol! Could hardly breath on the way down as I stupidly looked down and it took my breath away but I definately recommend it!!

Thats one thing i'm worried about, breathing when your dropping towards the ground at apparently 120 mph...lol. Doesnt help that I have Asthma (although its only mild so i've been given the go ahead to do the jump).

As long as you keep your head up when you exit the aircraft you should be fine :) Just dont look down lol! Ask your tandem instructor if you can take control of steering the shute when its open too, I really enjoyed that too!

Thats one of things it says you can do...steer the chute but the instructor takes control when landing. It's not until March but I cant wait!!

I did the 14000ft when I was in Mission Beach in Australia.

Its amazing. Just brilliant. Bungee Jumping is more scarier I reckon.

My bungee jump was 200ft from a crane, they'd put this massive sheet on the floor and just from 200ft it looked the size of a stamp so god knows what the 'drop zone target' will look like from 10,000ft!

I did the bungee jump in Cairns, but where you jump, its water underneath.

They dip you right into the water as well.

I did sort of enjoy it, I wasn't nervous, i was quite excited, but i think I maybe expected too much.
I also had to go back and forward over the space of about 6 weeks for a day when the weather was right and was at a good place in the que.

The actual jump...I got a touch nervous when the plane was climbing, but i suspect that was because the plane was small, it was like I was in a fiesta with wings.
There was two of us jumping, the other girl was very nervous and wanted to get it over with so whe went first. Then it was my go you sit at the door just I looked down cos I, well i just wanted see the view and then all of a sudden i was spinning, that was great, noisy fast and it's not fear it's more like awe, but the free fall was over in what felt like a minute, then the chute went up,
Alll of a sudden it was silent and my ears popped and we just slowly descended,
The landing there was no really choice, you see the ground and your legs just automatically want to start running although your not supposed to.

I had total confidence in my tandom jumper, he was a bit of a joker, but nice, I felt relaxed and he just let me go with my own feelings.

I am not an adrenalin junkie, but i like to try new things, and I'm not a scardey cat, so I did it, i did it for this charity

I don't think I'd do it again, it was ok, I wouldn't describe it as unenjoyable, but id just rather try something else personally, I enjoyed scuba diving more lol.
