SkyHD or freesat?

Want to get a HD box to replace our Sky+ box.

freesat box will cost around £150 with no monthly subscription.
freesat with broadcast on the 6 May 2008? And will only offer 1 HD channel at launch (BBC HD)

SkyHD £200 for the box and £10 extra on your Sky subscription.

Which do you think is the better deal?
We dont have Sky Movies (Have LOVEFiLM for that) and no sports channels!

Is paying the £10 an extra on our Sky bill worth the few channels you get with SkyHD or is freesat the better way to go? Unless of course they scrap the £10 fee to stop people from getting the freesat box and not upgrading to SkyHD? Would Sky do this? Im sure they did it to Sky+ when Virgin Media announced there V+ Box right?

I would wait for second generation Freesat boxes with PVR.

I've had sky hd for nearly 2 years, with sports, and I cancelled the £10 HD part a few months back. It looks pretty, but not worth it for the few rugby games. The only other part i am missing is things like National Geographic which show the HD off quite well!
I still get to see BBC and channel 4 HD, they are free anyway and most of the best content is on there.

Agree with this fully, I would wait, but if you really wanted to go ahead, the Sky box is the best bet, without the subscription. That way you get all the free hd channels plus a few that freesat don't have yet. It's not worth the £10 a month for a few movies and sports.

How do i get Sky HD without the £10 subscription? Do I have to pay for 1 month and cancel or can I just not have it to start with and just get the box?

EDIT: What are the free HD channels on Sky then?

ITV HD on Sky hasn't been ruled out at all.

ITV HD is scheduled to begin broadcasting its regular schedule on Freesat, accessible solely via ITV's red button interactive services, in "a few weeks", it was confirmed today.

Freesat managing director Emma Scott said ITV would be releasing further details of its high definition channel, and commence full broadcasting, in "hopefully a few weeks time".

She confirmed it would be accessible via the red button rather than given an individual EPG slot and that it would initially be viewable exclusively on Freesat equipment.

ITV executive chairman Michael Grade said: "We will launch our HD service with an unrivalled line up of premium football including the FA Cup, England internationals and UEFA Champions League from next season."

Grade did not rule out negotiations for carriage on Sky in the future, however, and said: "We are a commercial organisation and won't give it to Sky for nothing."

Humax, whose Freesat personal video recorder is expected to be the first available when it is released some time in the summer, said it would be able to record ITV HD.
