Was on Slim Fast diet a couple months ago, was something like a meal bar or shake for breakfast, then the same again for dinner and then you could have for tea a meal that was under 600 cals i think it was.

Lost a stone but changed to something else as it was getting to expensive to keep buying the stuff.

The milkshakes are horrible though, i could just about manage to drink the banana flavour one.

It helped me plummet from 18 stone to 12 stone in just under year and it trained me to eat smaller portions, this was just under 10 years ago and unfortunately i'm back up-to 15 stone! so I have decided to try them again recently.

oh and i use the strawberry powder with 2 ice-cubes and mix it with an electric hand blender, the ice-cubes make it smoother.

il need to try that see if it makes the drink more bareable

These products arent technically useful in the general sense, thats why the adverts say "as part of a calorie controlled diet" so if you just follow a diet normally you have just as much chance to lose weight.

Horses for courses, they really do give you a feeling of being full and they helped me to achieve my target weight in good time. i think they are good for a busy (or lazy) person as you don't have to think about what to eat.

I do agree here i was starving b4 i had this shake and my man was making chicken fajitas so im like il try the shake then maybe have a fajita .... not a chance had the shake and had no sense of feeling hungry what so ever took a bite out of one and handed it to my 7 year old !

The reason im on this shake plan is im 24 , i have 3 kids im a full time mom ( at the mo ) ao YES i am always on teh go but i seem to eatr the wrong foods as i go im 5ft 2 and im over 12 stone  yes its shocking i know ..... i am trying now to get rid of what i have gained as by " normal " standards i should be 9-10stone ( i wish ):whistling:

I use this for weight control, occasionally I'll pass my 147lbs maximum weight, couple days on the slim fast plan and I'm back under 10st 7lbs along with excercise (which I do daily). Always make the mistake of picking yp Cafe Latte instead of chocolate.

Ive found the shake to be very thick im gonna do what has been said in earlier thread and put in some ice as i would rather snack on the shakes and have a proper meal ... that would suit me .... and im sure if i stick to that i would loose some weight not sure exactly how much but its a gd start

I have used these and lost weight, but I agree with previous comments about blending the shakes. I bought a smoothie maker and added fruit to the mixture - I suggest you experiment a bit with what you like

Losing weight alone by diet isnt good because you are simply hiding the cravings and many people when they get to the weight they want think they can start relaxing a bit and the body though thinner still puts on weight thats why they say exercise is recommended.

check how many calories are meant to be in the shake, if you end up having part of the shake and then having food you could just be eating more calories than you would with a normal meal and will end up putting on weight or just not losing it.

Are the shakes meant to be used as meal replacement?

Just replace Slimfast with milk........add lots of different stuff to milk, flavourings / fruit etc. Exactly the same as Slimfast, which even at reduced price of £3 is still a lot
